My PCM mileage?
After i bought the truck it went back to the dealer to fix a dent. When i recieved it back the grid heater light came on while driving. Once engine reached bout 200 degrees the light came on, dinged 10x, and took two minutes and it turned back off. Took it back to the dealer to fix since the problem started after the hood dent repair. They told me it was a cluster problem. When i got the truck back this time it had 1000 extra miles. They told me they'd order a new cluster with the right mileage. SO the truck went back again. They then called me and said the mileage was right according to the PCM and that my grid heater light still coming on was again a cluster issue. But no issue with mileage. The tire size on it is 265 and im the 3rd owner. I just got the truck back yesterday and the grid heater light hasnt come on again, YET. In these trucks where is the mileage stored? The dealer says PCM but ive read its in the clusters on other site? And can the mileage be reprogrammed in the PCM?

I know this wont anwer your question, but I will say that if you replace your ins-cluster with say a used cluster, the miles showing on the used cluster will be what was in the used cluster at the time you replaced it,,,but weather the original miles are stored in the PCM i dont know.

Stored in the ECU which contains the PCM programs. 04-07 ISB's in the Dodge truck do not have a seperate PCM, its all integrated into the ECU.
The cluster control is just a sub computer that takes its readings off the communication bus from the ECU, its a slave processor.

when the dealer did the horn honk recall to my 05 they fried my cluster and reduced the milage by 4,000, I was told that when a flash is done its fairly common for the cluster to be fried. the 05 ecm has an integrated pcm. they arent seperate like they were on the pre 03 models...when you speak of a pcm on a 03-up your really talking about an ecm. they are one in the same. Soooo, your milage is stored in the ecm along with a key counter and hour meter, the cluster can be told to display what is inputed by a tech.
