Very nice, 2wd's rock! Your Challenger is awesome also.

What size wheels & tires are those?

I've been shopping for aftermarket wheels & tires for years fro my 2wd.
Backspacing of the wheels is especially critical for 2wd's. I haven't been able to find a wheel I like in the correct 5.5 - 6inch backspacing.
Plus I have this crazy idea to convert to a dually with Mega-cab rear fender extensions.

If you haven't already, removing the 2 spacers between the rear leaf springs & the axle housing is easy
and will drop the rear of the truck about an inch to level it out.
I did this on mine.

The new moto metal's are a 20" with 4.5 bs and -12 offset. The way they do wheels now????? Basically, the wheels are out of wheel well/fender by 1.75" so I got the fender extensions(2.5"). When I bought the 1st set of aftermarket wheels (17") which are up for sale (gotta post 'em), is when I did the fender ext. The tires are NITTO TIERRA GRAPPLER 285/5520 which are E load. I gotta trim the inner liner a tad where the tire rubs. I'm going to fab a metal brace to re-enforce where I cut out.

I did the spacer switch too, I tow a 45' and I have the air bags /load leveler aired up, I just moved the trailer around and didn't air down when I snapped the pic.

That is kinda crazy idea on going dually (LOL). I have wild hairs too sometimes. Like selling my Challenger and building another truck, 4X lifted and pushing over 1000 hp.

Thanks on the compliment on the car, had it since '95 and it's been through ALOT of changes. At 1st, on the mods. I that I did, I tried to make it so a person could restore without a trace of me being there. Now that I back-halfed it, I need to re-do the firewall with a flat piece and maybe move it back a few inches. I need to re-paint her and finish the hood, it's 'glass with a aero scoop- 9"Hx14Wx36L.

I'm in the process of changing/bombing my truck. After I'm done, I hope she'll be hitting 650-750 hp. A BIG list of parts, if curious on list I'll post 'em.

I want to de-chrome the truck one of these days.............Frank

Frank, thanks for the reply.

While those wheels & tires look great, 4.5inch backspacing is not for me & I'm trying to avoid wheel flares.

20x9 with 5.5-6inch backspacing would be great but these are not common & I don't like any that are available.

Your tire selection is exactly what I was planning.
LT285/55R20E's. I didn't realize that Nitto was making this size. This size is also available from Michelin.

Have a look in my profile album for my debadged truck & mods. My other toy is a 5.0L Mustang that is mainly set up for handling.

Good 2wd discussion. ...Joe

I'm strictly a MOPAR man but I can appreciate other cars/trucks. That sb dually would really look killer with the 22.5 big wheels/tire, it's fill up that wheelwell.

With the tires I have, it made a big diff. on traction!! Norm. I could break loose and smoke'em when the turbo spooled up and I stayed on it. Now it bearly brakes loose and I'm gone!! Just what I was looking for when I went this route, 'cuz of what I'm doing.

I would of liked to stay away from the flares also but............I wanted a diff. wheel/tire set. The wheel co. go toward the 4X's. The MICHELIN's are $100/ more than I paid. NITTO had dura graps too which were more $$$.

Going with the wheels gives a wider stance, which in turn helps with towing better, I think. I see you have a 5th wheel. Too bad we don't live closer and could run a test. I do still have my stock wheels, but I'm too cheap to switch tires from my other black set. I have my open trailer (24') and come to think it does handle better with the wider stance.

What does your 'Stang run on the strip?? What mods. have you done to the motor?? Since I can remember, I've only been into drag racing. No other sports, not into any except racing. I don't watch on the tube, either. Live is the only way.
