my feet are always cold!

Well now that the season is changing again and its getting colder, along with inside my cab. My truck gets hot when the truck warms up and will run ya out of the cab it gets so hot, but to get the most heat out of my truck I put it on Vent and turn it all the way up. It gets really hot and blows through the vents but thats how it makes the most heat, if I turn it to heat instead of vent it will put the heat to the floor but it seems like it barely comes out and doesn't get hot as fast. So I had an idea and was thinkin about cuttin a hole in one of my vents and running some 1" or 2" duct down and direct it to my feet because they are always cold when I'm driving but the rest of my body is warm from the vent. I wish you could put it on both vent and feet like the newer vehicles. Anyone done this or anything similar? I don't think it'd be too hard to do.

Have at it and post back with your results.

It is probably just a big dead rat or somesuch blocking the floor vent.

Is the door closing all the way in the heater ducting? The vacuum hose that controls the floor heat is under the steering column to the right...put a gauge on it to see if you are pulling the same vacuum as the other (defrost and vent) hoses..could be a loose or cracked vacuum hose..could be the hvac unit in the dash...

I would actually pull out the controls behind the dash, as the plastic that the rods are connected to generally breakor split, making it so you wont move the rods the whole way, causing the door to not open up all the way. I have had that happen on 2 of my trucks

I'll look into it, I haven't cleaned out my hvac yet, but was still debatin on whether i need to or not, but might as well. Theres still air comin out of the floor vents but it doesn't seem like that much, and the vents do seem small. My defrost and ac works pretty good.

Unless it's untaxed, then it's red.

man i'm right there with you! I've gone over my HVAC system a few times and cant get it flowing right. I cant get the floor OR windshield vents to work right!

what vac #'s should i have, i'm thinking of taking the whole HVAC control unit out and testing the main vac supply line from the firewall.

the other thing i cant get to move is the outside air?inside air gate on the passenger kick panel.

Any chance this this could be a symptom of a weak vac pump?

i plug my truck in at night and its hot within 5-10 minutes of driving. it helped to completely cover the weird hole in the drivers side under the side of the dash. now my feet are toasty..

yeah after my truck warms up, and the vent is on high, then it'll heat the cab up pretty quick, but not my feet!

Try to wear some wool socks and take the potato outta the vents.

I have also thought of your idea to add a couple of "vents" to the system. I would cut into the large black box under the dash. except i havent figured out what to use as a duct. maybe some small (one inch) or so black tubing. althought wouldnt it always be on when the system was on?
