My check engine light came on and I lost significant power...

first, i'll preface by saying that i have a 2005 Dodge 2500 4x4 quad cab cummins diesel truck with an automatic and 3,000 miles. i have a quadzilla quad race box on it that has been on the truck for about 2,500 miles or so. i usually drive it on the 60hp setting, but i've ran it on the 140hp a few times, then switched back to the 60hp...

well, when i left from work, today, my truck seemed to be driving fine, but shortly after i got on the highway, i noticed that i didn't have any power. i looked down, and my check engine light was on. i continued driving, then i noticed that my power increased back to normal or near, but the light remained on. also, i've noticed that i can hear a slight gear whine in first and second gears, so i don't know if i may have done something to the tranny or what...or if that is normal at all.

has anyone else out there had similar troubles? if so, what did it turn out to be? also, where can i get the code read, without having to go to the dealership? autozone? i appreciate any help you can give.

You can get the codes by turnig the key on and off three times without starting the truck. The codes will come up in the odmeter.

check the connections for the quad box setup? that's what i was thinking, too... it's driving fine, right now, but the check engine light is still on. i'm going to wait until the truck cools down a bit, then go out there and check everything. then, i guess that i'll disconnect the battery for a while and reset the light. thanks for the help!

I had a similar problem, I have a Quad also and normally drive on the 60 horse setting.Mine messed up when I was running in the 100. But three injectors later all is fine. The seals burst on the injectors filling my crankcase with diesel twice Could the higher fuel pressure cause this? Anyway check your oil and make sure there's no fuel in it.

i checked the oil, and luckily, no fuel. it's running normal, and it never lost power again, so i guess that it was a fluke deal. anyway, i reset the code, and it didn't come back on during the ride home...i'll keep an eye on it. thanks for the help, everyone!

I had the same problem last night I tried removing the BDDL program and going back to stock for a visit to the dealer today and I had all those symptoms plus a code of P0069. I turned the BD Outlook to "Dodge truck other/stock" and it gave me power selections of 0-100%, in the 100% the truck acts pretty stock but it will still defuel and when it does it litterally stops and the check engine light and codes never go off.

Sorry about reviving an old thread, but I'm looking for a little help. My check-engine came on this morning only 5500 miles on the odo.

On-and-off three times sounds simple enough, but I can't seem to make it work. I've tried turning to the first indent three times and leaving it either at the first indent or off - nothing. I've tried turning to the second indent (the idiot lights light up) three times and either leaving it there or taking it back to off - nothing. Any help?

I guess I'll stop rolling my eyes at the folks who have trouble programming the key fob or getting the seatbelt warning turned off. I've been able to do them first time, but this is giving me trouble.
