My '97 12v vs. 2011 F250 Standard Cab

I rarely race, and when I do, its usually never on the street.

But I was driving the other day, and this new 6.7 FLEW pass me.

I was thinking "man, that thing is quick"

So he kept showing off, saw him weaving in and out of traffic, blowing smoke everywhere (which leads me to believe he has a tune on it).

Finally he was out of my line of sight.

Long story shorter, heh, I was on a main highway - and guess who pulled up next to me?

He kept mashing the pedal and driving like a moron.

Then we get to a stoplight.

He was revving up... So I thought, what the heck.

Turns green, we gun it... He had me off the start, then I just destroyed him... And he was on it...

He stayed back till I got off an exit...

Now I ask the question.. Is my truck a freak?

I know those 6.7's are pretty strong, and run the 1/4 in 16 flat. Plus his tune.

My truck has never been on a dyno, and I'm sure it's nowhere near 400hp.

But when I do race, I usually always win.

Cars, trucks and whatever...

I'm proud of my truck. Felt really good.

Thoughts?

Got to love a 12 valve. It may not be the fanciest on the block, but it will get it done. I'd rather have mine any day.

Remember they claim 400 HP but they have torque management I think that don't let them put it to the ground anyway. Nice kill.

That's sounds about right for a moderately turned up 97. I had the same thing - 97, 3.54, 5spd, 2wd with HX35/40, intake, exh, and an 11 plate that I ground the defueling hump down a little and that thing was mean! Rowing thru 2nd and 3rd was not impressive but 4th and 5th was totally different. Mine dynoed 292/812 at 6k' altitude. I was really disappointed when I got my 03. The 305s dyno about 265 but the 97 would run circles around the 03. I didn't think <30 hp would make so much difference. I had both for 1 yr and I'd switch off towing and empty. I did similar mods to the 305 - intake, exh and towing turbo. The 305 still needed a 100hp tune to make it tow better than the 97 but the 97 was still a lot quicker, empty. Probably cuz the 97 was 1500 lb lighter. Craig

I just put some stage 1 injectors, #10 plate and 3k GSK

I've only got a 5 minute test drive as I had to park it and go to work, but crap it got to 70 like right now. I still got a grin

this on a 1995 x-cab 4x4 auto (the transmission was already built up)
