My 89 d250 is practically silent compared to the truck in my signature. Im not talking about exhaust noise either. Is this normal? Its an awesome truck for 400 dollars. I got my column together and working. The only thing i need is new upholstery and the shifter parts. unfortunately, i found a dead rat under the seat. it managed to eat away a good bit of stuff. My truck has what appears to be a factory high idle control on the pedal, a different throttle bracket, and a different vacuum pump among other things.

Oh yah, these trucks will even kill the rat thats eating on them! [laugh]

The hand throttle huh. Cool. Let me know if you want to give that away... Keep your eyes peeled for the newer style vacuum pump, cheaper and better upgrade than fixing them if they crap on you.

Is it just at idle? I know Non I/C trucks are timed differently from the factory, that might have something to do with it.

Or maybe, you're just crazy... [laugh]

It's probably timed stock, and the valve lash might be a little tight. Makes 'em real quiet.

I like the old style vacuum pumps, they work pretty well even if you lose one diaphragm. Jim Lane wrote a nice "how-to" on working on them, it's in the sticky.

Paint it with black primer, leave the upholstery, make a shifter out of rebar and an 8 ball, and call it a "rat rod". [laugh]

Although mine doesn't have one, my owners manual shows the hand throttle.
in the diesel suppliment, for warmup only.

im actually toying with doing a rat fink lime green with pink flames scheme. it is timed stock and is quiet at any rpm. the factory stereo in this truck is also way better than mine.

flat black truck (roll on :D) with red rims... :)

Oh my gosh that would be sooo cool. and old school

If your not gonna tow with it, cut the front coils down and remove some rear leaves and make it lower like SkinnyBTN's truck.

Your so lucky, :( $400

If You want it to wake up the hole neighborhood put a straight pipe in it, it will sound like a tank or semi coming down the road. Mine sure does.

I think you should go the hood stack route. [coffee]
