My $65 intake
Well, I bought an AFE filter from Merrick, and stole some exaust piping from him. It's REALLY loud, high ideling at 1,500rpm gives a very, very loud whistle, more so than the stock truck gave at 15psi.

I plan on it, it was just a sort of "cut... oh right about there" type of deal. But I'll probably take out the 5" and take off 1.5" and paint it black today.

You need to put a heat shield between the turbo outlet pipe and that filter .... compresssed air makes alot of heat ... that's why it feeds an intercooler.

You should be able to get it at any muffler shop, or at least, a big-rig repair center. I'll tell you this though, that's a 5" pipe, you need a 6" pipe for stock fitment on the elbows. I just cranked the clamps down with a cordless drill and tadaa . If you really want a peice, I think the shop has another 2' of it left I'm sure they'll let you have for shipping costs. Lemme know if you really want it, I'll ship it to you

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
That's very similar to what I'm planning to do except I'm going to use a BHAF instead of an AFE filter. I also plan to build my own "torque tube" with some 4" intake tubing and some 90 degree elbows.
HdPower, you can get everything you need at Air Flow Systems. They're kind of expensive though.
By the way John, that pipe you have looks more like a 4" pipe than a 5" pipe. The stock plastic piece that fits in there is 5".

Thanks JR...I will check with the big rig places down here didn't even think to look there ,and by the way I do appreciate the offer.
I'm a little confused (easily done) do I need to look for the 5 inch pipe or the 6 inch??
And Hoss, thanks for the link...there are a couple items I may order from them (clamps, hoses) .

the factory piece is 5.5"od... 5" exhaust pipe seens to work, but that's asking a lot of the rubber elbows to "shrink" down 1/2" to seal well...

In that case THIS is what you'd need. I could have sworn I measured it at 5 inches, but I must admit that I did this by eyeballing it against a tape measure. I didn't take the elbows off and actually measure the true diameter.
If that's the case, then maybe the pipe John used IS 5 inch pipe...and he just needed 5.5 inch pipe.
