mufler observation.
both a buddie and i have the same trucks, and both just put on mbrp exhaust.
mine is almost as quiet as stock, his is about half way between stock and a strait pipe. mines kinda raspy, his is verry deep.
the only diferance we have found? min has the mufler installed with the opening of the lovers pointed forwar, his point back.
we'll be flipping my mufler this weekend....
just an fyi for those who dont like how theres sounds..

Too bad I didn't know better! My duals are setup backwards, but they were already setup with the single coming in and two coming out. Guess I'll be cutting it apart, mine sounds like Gus' truck!

I took my MBRP and routed it out the side in front of the rear wheel. To do this I moved the muffler 37" forward and kept the louvers pointed back. Now the sound is deep and raspy. Not too loud but it still sets off a car alarm once in a while. It also has a mechanical sound I think is the sound of the valves closing. A much more pure diesel sound that is still not too loud. I really like it and it got rid of 5 feet of pipe and made room for horns alongside the fuel tank. There's also more room around the spare. Now my bumper stays clean but the wheel get a little dirty after about 2000 miles.

I installed a Nelson and I am getting the raspy sound also. There are no cups or arrow to indicate airflow. Are you guys with the raspy sound going to change to something else. I want to go 5" but do not know what muffler to go with.

Gus had his installed correctly that is why it was quieter. I put a muffler on a friends 05 and we tried it both ways first. It sounds way better back wards. Those cups can't catch the flow and quiet things down.

Mostly Stock if you want to keep your sound and change the tone, add the 4-6" rolled lip tip. Ive been running it now for a few weeks and love it, it is super deep, ask your local muffler shop.

I dont know about the raspy sound ive never ran anything other than stock, a 4" flowmaster, and striaght piped. The FM killed the power and the boost was slow to raise as compaired. Its been straight piped for years and have loved it but wished it were deeper, the 4-6" tip fixed that for sure! I suppose this raspy sound you have is due to your muffler if so the tip prob. wont change that but i garantee it will be a DEEP raspy if anything!

I have the 40" Donaldson and on it, the arrow pointed to the inlet end, it was not a flow direction indicator. Look at the arrow and see if it says "Inlet", you may have it backwards.
