mufflerectomy

got another question for you guys. buddy of mine picked up a 94 ctd the other day, nothin great just a 4x4 beater.

i know theres no problem with removing the muffler and resonator on these things but heres my question. other than the extreme noise and lack of legality, would there be any other problem with just taking a sawzall right in front of the muffler (or resonator, whichever is first)? truck doesnt smoke so that isnt a concern

thanks
jeff

Re:mufflerectomy

If Va doesn't require diesel emmision tests then it's perfectly legal. The resonator is first; I would at least put a turn-out to the side of the truck so you wont have the sound right under you.

alright, just wanted to make sure since well proly go ahead and do this tonight. legality isnt a main concern since this is really just a farm truck to screw around with

Re:mufflerectomy

If the truck is a 94 it has a cat converter not a resonator.

Re:mufflerectomy

Thanks for the correction Holsteinman; I would definitely get the cat out(they clog easily).
