Got a stock exhaust and muffler.
Does it help to run straight pipe out the back?Muffler is going to need to be replaced soon.I pull over the road mainly.
How much louder will it be in the cab? Thanks for the help in advance

I pulled mine. Yes it helps with performance. Yes its louder, but it doesn't hisssssssss anymore. And its not unbearable. OTR, you notice it on hills mostly. Back off the pedal and its not too bad. You can always add the muffle back in. I say DO IT, but what the hey do I know? ALSO, check to be sure the pipe over the axle isn't crushed down to nothing. H.

When I bought mine it was 3" no muffler, was very quiet in the cab. Open the slider or the passenger window and you can hear it...

mine is LOUD, esp when your under any load. I'm opting for a 4" bigg muffler like that on work trucks, eliminates all low tones and will just leave the turbo whistle :-D

I had a school bus muffler on mine for a long time but even at four inch diameter it ran a little warmer egt's than without. I finally learned how to hang the exhaust system so it isn't very loud in the cab without the muffler. The muffler is in the shed.

Yea my dad and I have had alot of 1st gens and that one was the loudest.

I honestly think its because most of the exhaust system is mandrel bent 3" (Dad and I did that)

Or maybe its that little flat tip ??
