yeah so I got the bug and cut that big old muffler out of there....since soooooooooo many guys complain about getting the stock muffler off without cutting, I just hacked it off with my Milwaukee portable band saw super easy
bought me a piece of 4" for $20 bucks got it cut to fit and welded it in....
So I jump in fire it up and right off I could tell it sounds super deep and really pretty quiet still(nothing like my 01 straight piped)
I took it for a test drive and was really impressed, it sounded like a brand new exhaust system.
now this is what I am thinking... my truck is a lot more quiet compared to my buddy's 05 that has been straight piped...the only difference is mine has a resonator on the rear over the axle section of pipe. I think this resonator makes for a sweet sounding exhaust!!! I am really happy with the way it sounds.
no drone that I can hear but I have not towed with it yet ether.
so in a month or so I may do a Black single stack and this resonator is going to be part of it
this is what I will do..
Cat, Resonator, Stack
anybody on the fence about straight piping your mega should just do it...they sound AWESOME

Thanks for the input. I keep waiting to do the same thing once I have gauges so I can see if there is a EGT drop with it, but man I am tempted to go have it cut out, local guy said $50 total to do the job.

I did full straight,
Out the door impressions....I like it. However, it does have a raspy note around 2800. I think I am going to add a muffler of some sort, or maybe twin 6" stacks. If I do stacks it will be the miter cut and I may have stainless dinger flaps added due to the monsoon season here. Dont want 10 gallons of water in the exhaust!
