Obviously, a racing or pulling engine can make great deals of power, but how much hp/tq are your guys daily driven Dodge/Cummins street rigs putting out?

I do know you guys are putting down very large amounts of power though...how do you "hook it up" on the street? Any mods?

BTW, how much power can a NV4500HD reliably hold?

400+, I haven't dynoed with the APB or hx40 on yet. No problems with the NV4500 other than a front seal and several clutches

I have no idea what I'm making but it's adequate for daily use, the factory should have made em this way ........


it needs a bit more but I'm not willing to part with the cash right now

A guy that lives up here in the northwest, (spokane area) just broke into the 700 club with a NV4500. He has lost 5th gear in it and had to replace it, but that can happen with lots less power.

So, to answer your question, lots! ;D

I'm near 400HP and a buddy of mine with only 350 broke the main shaft in his 4500 last week. I think its a freak thing as I would figure the input shaft would let go first

HX40 is the Turbo, it's made by Holset and is generally found on the 8.3L motors
APB is a fueling box made by Blue Chip.

Yeah, I see CTD Dodge's running around home all the time (and Dad even has one), and I realize they are very powerful when modded, but I've never seen one on a dyno, or looked to see what a street-driven CTD puts out.

I'll also ask this why I'm here...does anyone know a good "ball-park" figure on how much power and engine will lose from the flywheel to the drive wheels (or engine dyno to chassis dyno)?

456.9RWHP 950RWTQ on my '98.5 24V,, 561RWHP, 1076RWTQ on my 12V. Streetable? That depends on your definition of streetable. They smoke a bunch at WOT! My 12V at WOT, and 100PSI boost can shut down a 3 lane highway,, no problem. My 24V puts out a good cloud, then cleans on up to a haze at 40PSI.

It will take a while to learn all the slang we use here.

My 24V has DD5's, PDR hX-40/18, SBC 13" Con OFE, PDR Head, w/o-rings, PDR Cam, Head Studs, EGR Brakes, and a few more goodies.

Whow MCummings...my main question to you is this: How do you hook up that much power on the street?

The weight of the truck is a big advavntage.

With the size of turbo's my 12V has, it doesn't really start making serious power until high in 2nd gear (3,500-4,00RPM). I also have 3..5 gears, and 36x14.5 Mickey Thompson Tires on my truck, so those are hard to break loose also. A was pacing a Z06 a couple weeks ago, and ran him from 60-110MPH. He gained about 10-15 feet on my the whole way. It wasn't untill ~2 weeks later I remembered my tires make my speedo read 30% slower. (Wanna do the math?)

My 24V,, it's a 2wd 3500, it breaks the tires loose in 3rd gear, and gets squirmy. A powerShift into 4th will make the back end step out a little, 5th and 6th gear just pull you back into the seat. I guess I have enough traction on that truck.

Scott got high HP and torque at the Black Mountain Event in Cynthiana, KY on 10/11/03 with 530 HP and 1200 ft lbs. of torque. Not bad for a daily driver!

My truck has not been on the dyno in a very long time. It has enough to run 13.9's at this altitude. It is my daily driver, delivery truck, and drag truck. Not bad for 110,000 miles on a 2001.
