As much as I like my DS Predator.......

I think it's coming off the truck for good... If you have an 06 or 07 w/ a larger than stock turbo then you may know that adding a downloader into the mix may cause you to get Low Boost codes which throw the truck into limp mode. Removing my boost fooler seemed to help that problem but then I would get overboost codes if I got into it hard and went over 40psi. Well, yesterday I got another low boost code. I swear! This truck has not liked one performance item I have put on it yet!!! I'll probably keep the Predator just for clearing codes and maybe one day they will have an update to where it will actually read codes too like they advertise!!
I'm not sure where I'll go from here. I need to pull the turbo off too because the wastegate is stuck open. I had to clamp the wastegate hose off in order to make over 30psi of boost. I'm gonna pull it and send it back to be repaired and possibly upgraded. I don't know....

I hate diesel trucks!!!!!!

That has been my experience with just about every mod I have done. IMO, ALL programmers, downloaders, boxes, ect will cause a problem at some point.

I agree. I had very few problems with my 03 though.
Every issue I have had with the 07 has been caused by one or more of my performance mods.

Hey Dodgezilla.

While I have not done as many mods as you, I have also experienced how 'finicky' my truck can be with performance add-ons. I had the Quad STD box for a while, great box-does what it says it will do, but my truck just out and out did not do well with it. I know I could have sent it back and had the timing reduced to get rid of the timing rattle, but then that was why you put it on in the first place, to change the timing right? I ended up going back to stock for a while. Now I have the Rocktec to adjust the timing and plugged in a boost fooler, got the mileage gains I was looking for without the added rail pressure, I have had good rail pressure all along really did not need it raised.

Maybe there is something in the 06 and 07 computer programming that makes our trucks REAL DIFFERENT regarding these kind of mods?? They ARE more artificially intelligent, which suggests they don't have a lot of latitude for how boxes change the ranges of several things simultaneously. Your codes ARE the perfect example of the narrow area of operation. Real FINE TUNE stuff.

I am pulling the turbo off as we speak. The turbo is not my issue though other than the fact that the thing wouldn't make more than 30psi before I clamped off the hose to the wastegate. Now that I have pulled it off I can see that the wastegate is not stuck open at all. I think I damaged it during the install because I had to pry it in place with a crowbar because the WG was hitting the motormount. Maybe I did something that is causing it to open prematurely, I just don't know..
I'm not sure what I will do once I get the turbo back from High tech. I really, really like the way it works on this truck. I'm just sick of the codes. The only thing that has not given me issues so far is the Puck but it raises the rail pressure up past 27,000 psi even on the low setting.
I "Think" I will probably just end up with a Quadzilla box on the truck again and be done with it BUT you guys that have been around for a while know how I am.......

Thanks for all your prayers in this trying time........

Hey Dodgezilla, have you tried to put it on the 100 horse setting to see what the driveability is like?

Are you popping the stock turbo back on for the time being?

That sux about your DS.

So do you really miss your 03?

I have an 03 and really wish I would of knowen that the 04.5+ are capeable of more HP per dollar. Yeah I know there are a few 500+hp 03's but its rare and there more aftermarket for 04.5+

If you could get you 03 engine in your new 07 would you?

My 03 has not had a problem with everything ive throwen at it. Smarty, sliverbullet, mp8. It seems to pull harder on sw3 and 75% on the mp8 then sw7 and 75%. I only use the mp8 when I want to show off or need to pass quickly.

I do like how solid and easy my 03 engine has been to me no codes, no nothing, but stuck at 430hp

I know if I had a 04.5+ I'd be over 500hp

The 07 makes so much more power, stock, then the 03 SO did. This truck at 450hp still felt like it pulled harder than the 03 did at 500hp. I don't know which one I would choose if I had the choice.
I'm stock right now except for the Airaid and I can honestly say that the stock turbo spools much quicker than the HTB2 did with stock fueling. It's actually not that bad to drive. I may just keep it this way...........

The Puck is OK for a little boost but I think they way overrated the power of it. I just tried running it on the 90hp setting and the truck was sounding like crap. I don't know what that's all about. Then to top it all off, I noticed that my rail guage has quit working and I can't figure out why.
I think I may take it for a long drive off a short pier..........

I still love the truck. It's just not mod friendly. All these issues are minor ones so I'm not that distraught about it. I'll make it through this just fine....

Hey Zilla. Sorry to hear about the probs. It sounds like you really found something in your turbo with the crushed wastegate. Cruise around for a bit and think of what you want. WHen I had my truck returned to stock for a while, I could not take it. I ended up driving the wife's car much more because I felt a stock, stick shift truck was so slow.

Now that I have gotten used to the great power of the Diablo, I am not happy with the amount of smoke it makes on both the Extreme and Extreme RKL tunes. I may try the 100 horse tune. If I do Iwill report back. It should be the same results as your truck.

Thanx.
