With stock rear springs and 2" skyjacker fronts I could almost fit a 35" stock. However, the front would rub when turning hard, but with 33's its fine. I'd guess that for a 36" you'd be safe with a 4-6" lift.

i'm looking to lift as little as possible at this point... 4" would require a front driveshaft correct? i'm running 33s with stock (very saggy 1/2" to pumpstops up front) and not rubbing a thing...

Dodge could have put 33s on stock. 35s will not fit stock, but almost fit with the 2" skycrapper fronts. You'll need atleast a few inches of cushion just in case you are ever turning hard while going over a bump or whatever.

i wasn't saying dodge put the 33's on... that's just what i am running, with my stock springs. you think the 36's would fit with the 2" skyjacker and some fender trimming in the front?

I'm assuming you were planning on running 36" swampers? I had 35" BFG ATs (which run small) and it rubbed. With some fender trimming, it would probably work. I didn't know you were gonna trim the fenders, that there is a whole different ball game . I wouldn't have the heart to trim the fenders on my truck, but on my old toyota crawlers I couldn't bust out the sawzall fast enough!

they are actually humvee tires... from what i am told... 36x12.5x16.5 $50 for rims and runflat tires... %60 tread ish and a second set at above 95% tread for around $50/tire. and the rims have beadlocks. seems like a good deal to me since replacing mine with what i have would run me over $600 probably.

A 4inch sky jacker would not need a driveline either would the six my brother is runnin a 4 inch with 295 75 16 bfgs and he clears them but with little extra room and i have the 6 inch skyjacker with 35 75 16.5 with lots of extra clearence and i test fitted a set of 38's and they clear fine so i would say go with at least the 4inch with minor fender trimming or the 6inch with no trimmin

This is my truck, stock height, with Goodyear Wrangler RT II 36x12.50x16.50 tires on it. I had to trim some of the black plastic wheel molding at the corners (front and rear of all four wheel wells) but they fit very nicely. Rubbed a little bit on the pitman arm if you turned all the way to the right, and barely rubbed the rear of the front wheel wells if you went through a curb to fast, other then that, fit just fine. And everyone suggests a six inch lift to run that size tire... :P

I've been thinking about tire sizes lately too, after I finally realized the 285 BFGs don't fit those stock rims well at all. The tread width is nine and a half inches, way too much for 6" rims. It has the 2" Skyjacker lift and looks like there is plenty of room for more tire. I was also eyeing what looks like an adjustable turn stop (big bolt) in the front hubs. Seems like if that was the issue you could just reduce your tuning radius with that any not worry about it. I don't like the way there is a couple inches width available under the fenders either. I'm thinking wheels with at least an additional inch of offset to push the tires outboard a little.

ace, i am running 285s on the stock rims with no lift and very saggy leafs. i am running about 35psi and they are wearing amazingly even. i would think that the 2" lift should clear 315s (35") without much problem, i almost went with the 315s at my stock height... after looking the pics from my other thread... https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=128165
the first one is a 4" lift running 38's the fenders were trimmed a little... and the second is a 6 inch lift on 35's and the 35's look tiny.

Yeah, I'm running mine at 55/45 fr/rear and see no wear issues, but they only have about 10K on them, so maybe too early to tell. 35psi sounds a little low, but it all depends on the tire and how you are using it.

The only thing I'm really concerned about at this point is the effects of going a bigger offset wheel. I've heard that can negatively affect steering and increase load/wear on the bearings.

i have set of the exact same tires you are planning to run. i tried them on mine, but they rubbed the back of the front fenders really bad in turns. I tried trimming, but still didnt help. I have 33's right now, and they rub my fenders at full turn or on a bump. . As soon as i get my front end up a little higher, i plan on putting the 36's back on. They can bite and chew the ground like crazy, and are LOUD on the highway.
