I was getting fuel the other day and noticed that the particular station I was at had a sign attached to the pump stating a minimum of 40 cetane. Is that good bad?

'Round these parts most truck stops have pumps labeld as 40 cetane year-round.
I still add my "cocktail" of fuel additives to lube the pump and boost the cetane numbers.
I've read that cetane ratings above 50 are overkill.
