A PDR HX40 will support up to 400-450 hp. You would find a hx40 a little laggy unless you upgraded you injectors to around to 80 hp mark.

I did not have the ATS manifold on for that pull, nor was my comp upgraded to the drag version. The truck will be going back on the rollers at the end of april and i will see how i do then. Egt were resonable, not out of control around 1350 to 1400 by the end of the pull. I am running Bully Dog stage 5 injectors

People have made well over 500 with HX40s. But it's super toasty and risky, as 40s have a habit of exploding.

I'd personally NEVER use an HX40 with a Smarty set on kill. The rapid rate of fueling increase is sure to put the 40 in the danger zone.

Just like the first TST boxes keep destroying turbos on an otherwise STOCK truck, so could the same happen to a 40 on a VP truck with a Smarty. Yes, the HPCR can fuel more aggressively than a Vp truck, but a 40 is a lot weaker than the stock HPCR turbo.

It's probably not a concern with small or stock injectors, but with 100+hp sticks, don't expect an HX40 to live long when assaulted by the MAD fueling of the Smarty.

OH, and if you want to help keep your 40 alive, try the bigger 18 housing.

Sadly, that makes it laggy as heck.

The only way I trust a 40 is above a B2...and that's only temporary

Id call 475hp borderline with an hx40,it depends on how you treat it.CTD 2001,you likely wont pick up any Hp with either drag comp or manifold, howver the dragcomp as you know holds the hp peak from 2700-3200,and has alot more at 3400.On my truck the drag comp made a huge difference in acceleration, and feel, but not one single Hp more on the dyno, just held the power alot longer. If you want more power, swap those BD5s for a set of Don M 4's,it will put you at 500-520 if everything else is right, not to mention the smoke free power, instant response,it will make the HX40 light like a stock turbo, and have a quieter, silky smooth idle.

I have the Hx-40 and Scheids Told me It is too big for my engine. They want to put a hx35 back on. Should I do that or but a KSB1 or something similar? I want above 400 hp. All the mods are on my sig.

My truck idles pretty smooth with the BD5s, Its much more quiet then my fathers 02 6spd. She idles like a 12v. I have been wanting to try some Mach 4s, but the funds are not available for that yet. With the Catcher, the turbo lites pretty darn quick, almost like the stock turbo was on there. I would like to upgrade to a bigger turbo, something like a phat shaft 64 or similar, but again funds are not available. I guess i will have to live with what i got now. I will say, the drag comp is much more noticable, (SOP) feeling vs regular comp.
