One of the guys that worked with me got a ticket and had to pay it for "Believe this" 52 in a 50 zone. If that ain't crazy!!

We can all meet at the Wal Mart parking lot. Get your NEwcastle or other adult beverages BEFORE entering Union county or you'll be outta luck! I'l have time to get the ski boat ready and in the lake. Also some great logging roads if anyone want to bring a four wheeler.

04-01-2007, 06:59 PM
Hey Abby, go ahead and post that in the meeting thread also. Thanx.

FD, your buddy has a legitimat case against the cop who gave him the ticket. By state law, an officer cannot give a ticket under I think 3-5mph or something like that, due to factory tolorances in spedometers.

I've been so busy reading and thinking ... who's got time to post anything? LOL

Oh, did I foget to mention that I've had a lot of non-truck stuff on my mind lately too? LIke how to pay the bills when I take the EARLY RETIREMENT PLAN on May 31... [coffee]

Lately I've been studying on the net and under the hood, looking for ways to keep my injection pump cool. I've got several ideas I want to try before I replace that thing under the hood that keeps sending P0216 codes to my Smarty. :o

I want to ensure that the next vp44 outlasts the first two!

Oh yeah - who has the best deal on the best vp44?
Is there anything in between "stock" and HotRod vp44? I don't want a lopy idle. My wife will figure that one out REAL QUICK! [dummy]

How are you doing man?

ProspectorTim
04-06-2007, 03:52 PM
Gettin' better, but waaay too slow!

I've got a lot to do and WANT to work on my truck; but still only able to do a little bit at a time. [eyecrazy]

streetsmoker
04-06-2007, 06:14 PM
Hey Tim. I sure know that feeling. I wonder how some really afford the mods they do. Sure as heck can't be a working stiff like me with normally empty pockets.

ProspectorTim
04-06-2007, 07:20 PM
Actually I was talking about my injuries/recovery; I'm phsyically able to work just a little at a time before my foot swells up or just plain hurts.

But now that you mention it, yeah, parts are expensive; and in less than 2 months I'll be retiring (unemployed, too young to collect pension benefits).

streetsmoker
04-08-2007, 05:36 PM
You know I've seriously thought about selling a stake in the truck just to get the money to finish it. But who would want to do it. LOL!!!!

Actually, your sypmathy is misdirected.
You should be more concerned with how it might affect all those poor women who would be "punished" indirectly.

Thank you prospector! Thats right. Ridding society of me, the female part in particular, would be a terrible thing to do to them! I dont know if the women of the mid south area could function with out me now. I dont know what it is about them, but they hang around with me for a couple hours and its like they fall in love just that quick! Some its ok, others I just have to tell them, "hit the road"!

04-09-2007, 07:25 PM
No, you see Dmax. Your not that good, they're just that desperate, and they know you have no commitment issues because you have been married before and been treated like garbage, so they're motherly instinct kicks in and they just want to take care of poor little ole' Dmax.[laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [coffee]

Sometimes I crack me up!!!!

Ok this may take a while so pull up a chair, grab a cold one and have a seat.

1st, every one knows I'm on stock street tires. Well, while on the gas the only way to get the full benifit is to pull the ABS fuse to get a better pull on the top end of around 113-114mph. Well, when I pull the fuse it also deletes any and all torque management. So there was no way for me to leave the line with any kind of boost or she'd just spin like crazy, so anything gained on the top of the track was totally outweighed in the loss of time in the 60ft.

So, put the fuse back in deal with the top speed limiter and see what she'll do, right?...................................Well, not exactly. You see, untill I used the gas last night I never really felt the torque management kick in. BUt holly cow did I ever feel it then. It almost feels like a over rich gass burner trying to bog at the line for a split second then it all comes in and she scoots. Then when it hits 2nd it would sometimes spin for about 10 feet. Sometimes more. sometime less, but it allways did spin a little at about the 100ft mark. And of course, with about 200ft of track left it would start laying down cause of the speed limiter/fuel cutoff.

This all at the track where is was a litle slower than usual, there wasn't much time for trying different launches or tunes, had more fuel than I normally do on race night, and I didn't pull the taligate, one of the batteries and spare tire which by itself usually gains me a full 10th at least.

ProspectorTim
04-27-2007, 02:41 PM
SS, Gimme a holler when you plan to go to the track.
I'd love to watch, and heck, I could even turn the crank to lower that spare!

I only have to work 4 more Thursday nights .. then I'll be able to stay out as late as I want to. For now, I'm working 8pm-midnight.

Do you still have my cell #?

Totallyrad
04-27-2007, 03:37 PM

04-27-2007, 06:45 PM
Sure Tim. They have a Midnight Madness event tonight if yur game? Wasn't planning on going but I can if you wanna tag along. I don't have your tel# though.

Trad, I do have them located but they are on my "wish" list due to lack of funds[laugh]

Totallyrad
04-27-2007, 06:46 PM
OK, I'll bet the slicks alone will put you into the 11's!

ProspectorTim
04-27-2007, 07:10 PM
I'll have to pass on the midnight madness this time - but that would be great just about any other time.

My foot is hurtin too much to do much of anything tonight, and I have to get up early tomorrow to haul stuff over to my daughter's place for the "yard sale".

streetsmoker
04-28-2007, 02:57 AM
OK, I'll bet the slicks alone will put you into the 11's!

If not it would be dangerously close!!! With the problems I'm having rite now between needing the tq management on stock tires and not needing it on the top end, I'm loosing at least 3tenths in the 60ft and another 10th or so at the end of the track.

Totallyrad
04-28-2007, 07:36 AM
John, what would happen if you pulled the fuse while the truck was running? If there were no ill effects you could just put a switch on the dash and turn it off when you were at half track.

Hey, have I got story for you guys!!!!!! But sadly not a good one[verymad] [verymad] [verymad]

Boy howdy, when it rains, it sure does pour!!!! Found out today after my debit card was denied at the filling station for $50 worth of #2 that some lame freakin' yahoo somehow got ahold of my card # and ran up $1300+ worth of charges, and overdrew the account by $450. Someone in Cali. flying to and staying in Mexico at a real nice hotel booked on Priceline.

Lukily the bank manager says I should get all of it back, however I had to cancell the current account, and open a new one. Which sucks bad cause now I have to resubmit all my direct drafts and deposits. Tomorrow I also have to call the credit bureaus and get them to flag my name for possible fraud. Hoping against everything that all they got was the card# and no other personal stuff.[verymad] [verymad] [verymad] [verymad] [verymad] [verymad]

afternoon folks...

I'm new to DTR, and glad to see there is a DTR chapter for MS. I've been lurking and sifting through this thread (and many, many others) since I traded my gasser for diesel this past January. I admit... I haven't read all 89 pages of this thread... yet... ;), but I did cover the first and last ten and a few in the middle -- eventually, i'll get to the rest.

One thing I'd like to applaud all of you for... your willingness to help, suggest, and offer feedback. -- I'm astonished how much good info you guys have left for reading and research -- great stuff . I, (like many of you) am a member of a few "other" forums... but this one is a step-above the rest.

Really looking forward to transforming my current stock rig into beast its capable of being based on all the good information and suggestion found here in your messages (and your sigs)

so... what's the latest on the next meet for MSDTR?? [whistle]

i see. thanks for clarifying.

Shifting topics... I read in an earlier post on this thread about a meet/n/greet at 4wheelparts.

Anyone here dealt much with the one in Memphis? I saw mention of a disc:ount in the same post. I've considered visiting them for new wheels and tires... maybe lift purchase/installation-- discounts will definitely sweeten the deal. However, I am curious what you guys think about'm. Would you or do you do business with them? If not there, where? Online? I am looking/planning for the mods i see most of you have already completed (lift ~3/4.5, 18" wheels, 37" tires, exhaust, air intake, programmer (juice w/a2), etc...

thanks,

Nasty, I've dealt with 4wheelparts, but not recently. They were always real helpful when I was in there. I've yet to go to there new location. As for wheels and tires, Abbynormal just got some. June 2nd and 3rd for IRP. I went last year. It was pretty cool. Schied's is in August. I heard Schied's was supposed to be really awesome. Some liked it better than IRP. It'd be a haul for you guys. I think it was like right at 5 hours from Nashville.

I buy alot of stuff from 4wheel Parts. If they know you are gonna spend mega bucks over the long haul, they will usually cut you a pretty good deal. I deffinately like the in-person deals at the store instead of the catalog sales. Only problems I've ever had was with the phone sales dept.

DmaxEter
05-18-2007, 09:06 AM

So will the location-poll be reactivated? Or are the locations fixed to those currently listed?

Given the Mid-South heat in July/August, would we plan for an evening gathering or something a little later to "beat-the-heat"?

Funny you ask. The poll is an old relic from when I had this and another thread merged. But the mods messed up and merged the original dicussion thread with the meeting w/poll thread instead of the otherway around. And they couldn't delete the poll from the title.

What we do is discuss the meetings here. When we get a general consensus, I then start a new "MSDTR Meeting" thread and do all the finalized planning there.

I figure the next meeting can start to be discussed. I won't be off the boat till July 23rd. Then, soon after I'll be heading back to the Philippines to finally bring Lyn back. So we can put the out there for a target date to throw around.

I don't know yet when I'm leaving or when I'm coming back - but I'll be in Colorado before July 28 and returning sometime after August 5.

Fairplay Burro Days in Fairplay, last weekend in July; Gold Panning Championship in Breckenridge the next weekend. We'll be in our timeshare condo at Grand Timber Lodge in Breckenridge for the week.

Airfare and rental cars are expensive, and since I'll be retired (unemployed), I'll drive the truck out there early, pick up the wife at the airport, and drive back whenever.

I'll be taking a longer vacation, visiting friends, etc.

Yeh Billygoat has it about rite. Paying a lawyer $150 to get out of about $500 worth of tickets and increased insurance rates. Well worth it in my book!!!!!!!

06-12-2007, 10:36 AM
Hey Happy, Stomping out fire is FUN!!!!! I personally prefer to be the driver/operator but what ever needs to be done, im there! Its also a VERY good way to attract the womens! They love turn out gear for some odd reason? Oh yeah, something about women liking fire trucks and their hose beds? I dont know why they think like they do but they do and I am ok with it! [duhhh]

HappyGA
06-12-2007, 10:53 PM
Billygoat, the fires are in excess of 300,000 acres now. You don't hear much about it because it is in mostly unpopulated south Georgia, and North Florida. The only time it was getting media coverage was when it was near thetown i live in now, Waycross, GA. It is now in the okefenokee Swamp and wetlands of North Florida, which makes it impossible to fight, because heavy equipment sinks in those types of terrains. So, all they can do is drop water on it, and keep an eye to see if it is going to move toward anyone's home.

Dmax, I hear yah on the fire trucks and gear. lol oddly enough, a firefighter got released down here about a year ago for letting a girl pose nude with just his jacket on with the fire stations name on it. lol

billygoatyj
06-13-2007, 07:29 AM
That's a pretty big fire. I remember hearing that it had moved into the swamp. Hopefully it won't make it out of the swamp.

Oh and don't forget to cover up the station names on your jacket.[laugh] And don't forget to share.[guitar]

I was taking care of a few things around the house last night and decided that I needed to check the fluids in the jeep. All is well until I pull the fill plug on the transmission...out pours that nice milky substance known as gear oil and water[yuk] [yuk] [yuk]

So I drained it and pulled the pto cover as well as the top cover. Everything still looks as good as the day I put it in and the magnet had minimal shavings on it. Hopefully I avoid disaster.
