Do you think they would believe that is Newcastle in a Mason jar?
Totallyrad
08-29-2006, 08:30 PM
That seems kinda strange, keeping anti-freeze in the freezer.[duhhh]
ProspectorTim
08-29-2006, 08:33 PM
I don' think it will keep, even in the freezer.
We need to finish it off before it goes bad!
Totallyrad
08-29-2006, 08:38 PM
It's bad when it won't burn, right?
DmaxEter
08-29-2006, 08:56 PM
Well if its bad when it dont burn, this stuff ought to be good for at least 20 years with all the burn its got. It has a almost sweet smell with a little burn in it. But man when you taste it, whew whee, Its so smooth going down but as the song says, "burns your tummy dont you know, chugalug chugalug" :o

Hey guys, Dmax sorta knows allready, but I'm working several different angles right now to grow our little club. We may be getting some sponsorship deals going with Hypertech. Please stand by.
Anything that comes out of this can only be good. There will def. be some rewards to those who've been with us since the beginning and who are active members before any kind of deal I can work out.

Yeh, they don't have much in the diesel market, but they are a hometown company based right here in Memphis, and their lead engineer has contacted me and says they are wanting to grow this segment cause they have been left out of it as the other newer companies have offered better products. He said they are in the process of fixing this little problem. He wouldn't say for sure, but something along the line of consolidation or partnering with a diesel performance specific company. A la MSD's buyout of Edge.

Hey slowpoker, I missed like three calls from you yesterday, sorry. I was working on the pulling tractor with my friend and left my phone at home. Then when I did get home I spent most of the night breaking down a tire to get the tube out. Fellas, Im hear to tell you a 18.4X26 tractor tire is big to be manhandling by yourself!:o But I got it!!!!!
Call Me Slowsmoker and I will answer.

Sooner or later, we gotta finish (or pause) working on other people's stuff and do something on Cummins-Powered Dodge trucks!
I just found out what a pain in the arse it can be to "simply" change the transmission belt on a John Deer riding lawn mower. I'm sure glad I don't own one of those!
Now I'm tracking down problems with the power winders on Silky Sullivan's Rolls Royce. This may take a few more days. :(
Meanwhile, my new FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE should be sitting at my door when I wake up tomorrow, and the Energy Suspension's polyurethane control-arm bushings are supposed to arrive the next day. :)
I think I'm gonna have to party less and work more this weekend.

That headache rack looks awesome Dodgeguy. I may need one of those. It'll match my front bumper. You'll see what I mean on the 16th. Are those going to be solid panels on the inside?
dodgeguy71
09-07-2006, 06:30 PM
The panels on the inside is actually one panel. I figured this would raise questions as for visibility out the rear. It is filled with tons of little holes, I'm thinking each hole is about as big as the tube that holds the ink on those cheap bic pens, maybe a bit larger. You can see out it and it will serve it's purpose of protecting my window, pretty sturdy stuff. I held it up looking out of the shop into the driveway and it's good, after a minute or so your eyes start to [eyecrazy] [eyecrazy] But just for glancing behind me to see the next idiot that is gonna hit my truck, it'll work great.
I could fix you up, yours is an 01' the measurments should be about the same. Do you have a toolbox? That is the wrench in my gears right now. I have an idea on a simple way to mount it, but....I like the feeling that is gonna be strong, not...it should be ok, know what I mean. [laugh] :D

Alright guys, theres an upcoming truck and antique tractor pull at Burtons surgar farms thins month that I will be attending hopefully with the JD50. Me and my tractor pulling friend plan to have it ready but I dont think we will make the 4500lb class this year. We got to get rid of those cast iron wheels and that stupid rock shaft[verymad]
I will most likely be competing in the street diesel class so anyone that would like to attend just give me a shout and I will see to it that you get there. heres a link to their place. check out the whole place, its great fun for the family and a real learning experience.

Thats a fine dyno number there wrglrroper. Nothing to be ashamed of there. Heck, you might even have me beat with my 3rd gen. now, time for me to unleash the brain washing, just ask Streesmoker. If you made that kind of number with just the edge box, imagine what a little bit of propane, a torque converter and valve body, maybe some nitrous, a little bit of timing and some more fuel would do? The possabilitys are endless and easy. Just takes a little bit of money. [whistle]

Speaking of un-marked bills, those are getting kind of rare.
I find it kind of insulting when I go to the store and when I pay for my stuff, they test it with one of those counterfiet marking pens. They don't even know me, but think I might be a crook? [verymad]

Alms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alms)- (Wilkipedia) more than you probably want to know; but the common conception (extracted from that article) is:
...in general terms, it is obligatory to give away 2.5% of ones savings and business revenue, as well as 5-10% of ones harvest, to the poor. The recipients include the destitute (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destitution), the working poor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_poor), those who are unable to pay off their own debts, stranded travelers, and others who need assistance,...
New Catholic Dictionary: alms (http://www.catholic-forum.com/SAINTS/ncd00352.htm) -
(Greek: eleemosyne, compassionateness)
Material help given to the needy, prompted by Divine charity.

Who's going to the Tipton Couny BBQ Festival (http://www.covington-tiptoncochamber.com/lifeintiptoncounty/events.php) in Oct?
I haven't found a lot of details other than these 2 links. http://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb/frown.gif
Events for this festival include Memphis in May sanctioned bar-b-que cooking contest, a demolition derby, arts and crafts exhibits, a truck pull, live bands and many other fun activities
Tipton County Bar-B-Cue Festival & Heritage Festival (http://www.tnvacation.com/events/1789/)
Event Dates
Oct 12, 2006 - Oct 14, 2006
Quote:
Cobb Parr Park - Includes barbecue cookoff, demolition derby, truck pull, music and more. The Heritage Festival will be held Oct. 14 with tours of the courthouse and historic homes.
Hmmm. I'd like to go, BUT: I'll be just-got-back (Oct 11) from AIRSHO 2006 (http://www.airsho.org/) at Midland, TX. My wife might object; or she MIGHT even want to go with me.

Prospector, I'd like to go but I won't be in town. If you want links about the pull. www.hillsled.com/ is the sled that will be there but they haven't updated there schedule to reflect it. www.kentenpullers.com is the pulling association putting on the event. I've seen them several times and they have good sleds and always put on a good show.
I just checked and they have the truck classes listed for that pull and that the tractor classes are pending. I know they had several tractor classes for the original pull in Covington that was rained out so they should have some this time as well.
You also know what they say about people who post three consecutive times in the same thread don't you.

Hey Streetsmoker,
I was thinking on my way into work this morning, maybe in order to be able to run 16's on the back so you can get some slicks, you can retro-fit some rear brakes of a 2nd gen, the 01.5. Then you would be able to run 16" wheels back there. I dunno if it will all bolt up or not, might need to do some cutting, but you never know till you try.

those are cool, but John wants to run slicks on the rear of his truck to try and get some traction on the strip. His problem is, most street slicks, and racing slick are 15" or 16". The 3rd gens are not able to run anything smaller than 17" and also can not run some 17" wheels because of clearance issues with the brake caliper setup. If he can find a way to mount 16" wheels on his truck, he can then run some slicks.
Totallyrad
09-13-2006, 09:30 AM
I was thinking of the Hummer and Power Wagon 24 series. The ad states they will custom build a wheel for you. Would probably be cheaper in the long run. Find a slick that fits in the wheel well and build the rim to match, if you can't buy off the shelf.
HappyGA
09-13-2006, 10:42 AM
but the problem still remains that he needs at max a 16" wheel so he can get slicks, but 16" wheels will not clear the stock rear brakes. So something has to be done on the brakes first.

Man there's a blast from the not to distant past!!!!! Hey Smokey, you know we got a dyno day this weekend rite? Good to see some folks still around lurking.
Hey Happy, I'm looking into many different options rite now. Including some high offset 15in. rims. I think an easier fit would be the rear brakes from a Chevy with the same AAM 11.5 rear. I talked with the DHRA pres who said that a few slick tire builders are looking to tap into our market with some correct size slicks.
As of rite now, I'm going with some Nitto 404's in a 305/60R17 on 17x9 wheels. Gota be a heck of a load better for grip than what I have now

I got my new lift pump installed & relocated with the Vulcan big-line kit.
It seems smoother on the bottom end, but still feels weak. More of a difference than I would expect just from going from 245 to 265 tire size.
I just might have to splurge for a dyno run to see if I've really lost power, or just feels like it. It put down 230 hp at my last Colorado emissions test, Sep 2002. Oh yeah, it was 186 the week before, when it was "stock". I installed the 275 injectors over the weekend and went back for a "re-test". ;) It ain't a hot-rod truck, but it ain't bad either.

Hey guys I probably should put this on the performance page, but I know yall have the brain power to tell me. [laugh] Whats the difference in getting say 50 hp nozzles and 50 hp injectors. Or do you have to get both.
DmaxEter
09-14-2006, 10:59 PM
Nozzels are just the tips of the injectors and injectors usually means the entire body tip and all. Either one is fine. Theres nothing to tearing an injector apart and replacing the tip or nozzle. A lot is all personal preferance to. They may be refering to the same thing, just different names. Most likely same thing.
We in the buisness refer to the tip as the tip or nozzle. The body is the body or nozzle holder[dummy]

I finished installing my fuel pressure gauge today.
The gauge is nice, but I an't happy with the pressure. :(
cycle the pump, engine not running - it builds 15 psi, but drops when the pump stops. (is that normal?)
engine idline - 14psi
driving the truck, it is like there is a connection between the throttle and the FP. It definitly ain't steady!
Empty truck, I can hit 10-11 psi on the 1-40 on-ramp. :(
Driving around, it is mostely 13-14 psi.
I only drove it home from my shop today (jumped on i-40 from Danny Thomas to Riverside exit).
This is with NEW campaign pump relocated to frame rail, new filter, Vulcan big line kit.
My truck has the rv 275 injectors & a boost module. stock turbo, no fueling box... see more truck details here (http://tinyurl.com/4gsp5).

Hey TRad I've allways know about Stockton. And have allways been an option for me. Just knew they would prob be expensive. I'll have to call them up and see about some custom rims in 16" made with a special backside curvature to clear the brakes. Prob be my best bet, and I'm tired of looking around and asking questions people don't seem to know the answer to.
Like I told Dmax earlier. It seems I'm the only one around attempting this on a 2wd 3rd Gen.
wrglrroper
09-15-2006, 10:12 AM
Dmax, PDR has both at the the same hp rating. the tips were cheaper and if I go with something and get the same power why not go with the cheaper ones? The next question will be if I do get some how big. 50 hp 100hp or what.
billygoatyj
09-15-2006, 10:21 AM
The tips are cheaper becouse you have to take your injectors out and replace the tips and put your injector bodies with the new tips back in. If get the new injectors they already have the new tips and you just pull and replace and then you have a complete set of extra injectors. But I'm not sure what good used stock injectors would do.
Oh, and go big or go home. [guitar] http://towrig.com/forums/images/smilies/burnout.gif Wouldn't be much fun to pay for and replace with the 50's and then wonder what the 100's would be like. [duhhh]

09-15-2006, 07:26 PM
Oh yea. When you get the injector out, you will see a place at the bottom where a wrench will fit. This is the nozzle retaining collar. The secret is, you have to put some pressure on the very top of the fuel injector body and the tip of the tip. If you dont, you run the risk of breaking the little alignment stub on the washer under the tip off and then the complete injector is crap. You also have to keep the whole assembly from turning while you break the collar loose. Once its loose, you can take it out of the vice and screw it off by hand, push the old tip out and then slide the new one in and reassemble the same as dissassemble. I will try and get some step by step photos together at work next tuesday and post them up.

It's quicker than using our worn out pusher especially on warranty jobs!!!

Hey!
Anybody have a car trailer in the Memphis/ N. Mississipi area that I can borrow for a couple of days?
My S-10 blazer that was stolen about 6 weeks ago was found in Pearl River, LA about 2am this morning. The tow-company that has it is a Mon-Fri operation; so I would need to hook up this afternoon and leave as soon as I get off work tomorrow.
Apparantly, some Katrina "victim" needed my Blazer to get back home to the "Chocolate City" :[verymad]

I have emailed them for information and when I find out I am going to set up a dyno day in the spring-ish time, maybe February. I would like to extend an invitation to MSDTR #31!! Dang... so many offers.
Heck I even met StreetSmoker going down the road a few minutes ago, and he offered his trailer too. He was headed for the Motorsport Park and saw me going the other way, so he did a Uey and caught up with me.
I had to make a decision quick, and didn't know if anybody would even read the forums in time; so I already reserved a trailer one-way from Uhaul in Slidell. It would probably cost $50 to cancel now. :(
Anyhow, thanks for the offers! I know where to go next time I need a trailer. [duhhh]

Best 4 runs tonight all in consecutive order:
12.84@109mph (Diablo Stack)
12.67@109mph (Diablo Stack)
12.66@109mph (BDPP Stack)
12.72@109mph (BDPP Stack)
There were a couple runs made between the 12.66 and 12.72 passes, but blew the launch out of the hole. Track started fading away quick as it was getting late and cars weren't running as much.

Yeh, it looses some power on the upper end, the BDPP does. I still think I can get a 12.5out of it cause the 60 ft. times are unchanged. Rite at the 2.05-2.10sec range. I have pulled a 2sec flat 60ft. before with these tires. I was launching somewhat conservative also at 1600rpm's. So a little higher to say 1800 or so should help.

I am looking at one of them there delemas (sp) Me and my wife found a house in the historic distric around here that is a diamond in the ruff for about the right price. Fixing it up though would severely hinder my rebuild of my 64 chevy and bombing my Dod... I mean cummins. It is a 4 bed 2 bath 3200 sq ft house with 16 foot cielings through out. Hard wood floors, beautiful layout and a wrap around porch that is about 10 ft wide around three sides. My dream house, but it would be like a ten year project if you know what I mean.
billygoatyj
09-27-2006, 07:35 AM
That does sound like a nice house. Put it on a few acres and it would suit me just fine. That is a tough decision. Guess you just have to decide which one you want more. Although you already have the car and you can fix it up later but you may not be able to get the house later. But it ain't much fun to have projects sitting in the garage that you haven't worked on in forever. I know all about that.

Yeah, I feel sorry for the Tiffin, just being a true freshman. At least he'll have plenty of oppertunities to make up for it. It was certainly something in his head. I hope his dad can get him straigned out this week. We are liable to need him again. Of course I'm not blaming him, it's not just his fault. Actually while I was typing this I was browsing my usual Bama sites and espn reports that Christensen is healthy and will be kicking, but they also said that last week until about Fri. and he started having problems again.
One thing I wonder about is why we abandon the pass in the red zone, it works so well the rest of the game why not throw there too. And on that note for the love of Cummins powered trucks let JJ tote the rock. It looks like we are 13-14 point dogs in this one. I think we'll see a team firing on all cylinders like last year. We'll break there hearts in the swamp again.

All the guys at work all they know is cars, fixin cars and a couple good friends have said they wish they could do something else, but don't figure they could. I'm lucky cause most of my career has been heavy equipment/diesel and this last 3.5 years on cars. It is a point brought up at interviews, "oh, your working on cars?". It's hard to make them see that it's just a blip out of 17 years of turning wrenches. This one looks good though. We interviewed over lunch, suprised him about my welding experience, and really surprised him about my class A license and current health card. So I have A LOT of background which I am hoping will get my foot in the door.
Our teachers always said, "learn everything you can and get everything you can from the employer, if you quit you have all of that other stuff under your belt". So basically that's what I have done and now here I am.

So what's the dmage $$$ wise? Also, whats is the exact problem? It's a tough call, but you do have a lot of evidence showing bad injectors on the '04.5+ trucks and even there own tsb's that state fuel filters are not good enough that originally came with the truck. As they now state a lower micron filter should be used. This is a prob that sems to be creeping up around and they know it but can't afford the pay-offs for the warranties.

well money wise is the cost of injectors, 500.00 bucks a hole from dodge. might look in rebuilding them. yes it really does look like injectors, the injector will bleed back in the return system, old ones would blow white smoke or dillute the oil with fuel. not so for the latest and greatest
dodgeguy71
09-30-2006, 09:46 PM
$500 for each injector!! Wow!! Those are the unit injectors right? Solenoid on top or something like that? Best of luck to you! If there is a bulletin about shoddy parts from the factory they should fix it regardless. That's why I worry about taking my truck to the ripoff store, afraid their gonna give me poo poo about gauges, pipe, bhaf. So I'll have to explain that I still have not found that money box in the backyard so these were the cheapest mods I could do!
