MPG Loss

OK now i know mine is one of the new engines where mileage suffers and that they will all get better with some miles put on them, but my 05 seems to be getting worse. new i was getting 15. whatever. now my trip is reading 12.?? and my hand calc on this last tank turned out to be 9.5! winter gas ok theres a little less. i did stomp on it a bit this tank but geez. im gonna have to get one of those old reebok pumps and fill it with helium...

I would check the tire pressures first. We are in the cold weather now and air does contract and drop the pressure. Combining the winter blend fuel with low tire pressures could account for a 3-5 mpg drop. If you drive short trips, the oils are still stiff and cause a lot of drag or friction and will contribute to low mpg's. Do you let it idle to warm up before driving?

MPG on mine has been a problem from day one. Initially I thought it needed miles to loosen up.

Now I have 25k and am still only doing +/- 7 MPG when towing. EMT is now under 15 MPG. The dealer tech is now working with the Dodge "engineers" to solve the problem. One injector has been replaced. It cold tests worse than the replaced unit. Truck goes back in the night of 1/2/05 for an AM cold check with the exhaust manifold pulled away so they can determine which cyls. are smoking.

If this trip doesn't result in a follow-up fix, the arbitration card goes in. Considering the low level of concern by Dodge thus far, they will probably tell me where to go.

When people ask how I like the truck I tell them.
