MPG and shifting a NV5600
#2
very seriously doubt it, 1st is a waste of time & energy unless you're pulling something. I've noticed mpg gains by shifting up early, keeping rpm's below 1800 really helps

If you launch in second in such a way to where you have to give it some skinny pedal to launch, then 1st gear will save you some fuel. If you slip your clutch more, it won't save any fuel.
I launch in 1st to help the clutch. Shift around 1700-1800 rpm for best mpg, and be eeeeeeasy on the pedal.

1st gear is going to get me rear-ended. I move 5 feet in a hurry and then take a few seconds to grab the other gears before I can get through an intersection.

To conserve fuel I shift below or at 2k rpms. Since doing the Rokktech timing mod I can be in 6th gear by 30-35mph and still accelerate easily from there.

i can launch in second gear with no throttle. You want to doe something fun pull up to the parking stops or a good curb. Put it in first and ease up to the curb. Start letting out on the clutch without pushing the throttle slowly until the tires start spinning. It was easier with the stock michelins.
