MPG and accessories

I am thinking about puttin a 2" lift on the front along with a southwest square D replacement bumper and some homemade full length running boards. My question is what will it cost me in mpg? I have read in the diesel power mag that a lift can cost as much as 2mpg and the bumper as much as 1 mpg, just wondering if any of you have seen similar results after doing these upgrades, Thanks.

2"s does stick you up in air quite a bit, but then you have clearance underneath. JMHO is the MPG cost is very minimal at worst. A very mild frontal area increase would also have minimal effect. The extra weight would also have some effect, again not much IMHO. I suspect .5 MPG is worst to expect. You can effect milage far more by changing driving habits. Accel out slightly slower and skip a gear during upshifting. Start slowing down 50 feet earlier. Resist the urge to pass at WOT, pick your time an accel enough to get by in reasonable manner. Don't carry unneeded junk.
