Mounting front splash guards, just about drilled something electrical

I'm probably not hitting the right keywords as I couldn't find anything searching the web...

I was mounting some Husky Liner front splash guards on my '08 2500 4X4 and just about drilled into some electrical device on the inside of the plastic fender liner. I'm going to guess its probably a sensor for the tire pressure monitoring system. Can anyone confirm this? Its about 1 1/2 inches square about 3/4 inch thick.

I carefully drilled my holes and then cut off the excess screw with a Dremel & cutoff wheel. It would be really easy to either drill into the device or the wires, so be forewarned. I stuck my hand up behind the liner before I drilled and was quite surprised to find wires and a device that far down on the fender liner. Why I did that I don't know, typically I'd probably just start drilling thinking there wouldn't be anything there.

If it is a tire pressure monitor sensor, I'm still stumpped as my curiosity got the best of me and I couldn't find a similar device on the rear end.

Maybe the outside temp?

I wouldn't have expected anything back there either.

Does everything still work?

After a bit more searching, looks like "Transponder-Tire Pressure-Right Front"

I think I found it:

http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/200...celocation.pdf

It would appear to be these items: Transponder-Tire Pressure-Right Front and Left Front.

No problems, its still working fine as I didn't drill into them, but it would be so easy to drill a hole in either the transponder, connectors or wires that its really not funny.

I wonder if I can find anybody at Husky Liners that cares enough to put a note on their installation instructions?

I still haven't figured out how the rear tire pressure monitoring is done, but am pretty sure the gadgets I almost drilled holes in are the transponders for the front.

Perhaps not as close as I thought, but still need to be carefull

Here's what it looks like on the left side, looking forward from roughly under the front passenger door. I've circled my cut off screw. With the light of the camera flash it doesn't look like the transponder is in too much danger, but the wiring and connector certainly are. The Husky Liner site had a place to send an e-mail, so I suggested they ought to put a warning on the install instructions for these newer Rams.

Here's the deal, there's a new part number for the '08s

I had a really good e-mail exchange with the vendor. The Husky Liner part number for the '08 trucks is 56071. It has a moved screw hole specifically to avoid this problem. The web site I got this from gave me the 56061 which can be used on the '07 and earlier 3rd generation body style. So, buy the right part and it'll fit OK!

I need to go back to the web site and see whether it led me to believe I was getting the right thing for a 2008 or whether I just saw it fit a 2007 and "assumed" it would work....
