Motor mounts

Motor mounts
Well today I managed to snap a motor mount while pulling my car trailer with 2 cars (both cars are 6800 lbs each, I don't know what the trailer weighs)
Has anyone else had this happen?
Does anyone else make a better mount than the Mopar crap before I order new mounts on Monday?

How did you know it was the motor mount? I have an '05 that at very low speeds I feel a little knock at my feet sometimes. Nothing major but it kinda bugs me. I'm gonna crawl up underneath it today and see what I can find.

Casket Man,
Greg Boardmen over at the TDR was building tougher motor mounts for our trucks. Don't know if they are in production yet, or how serious he was about it, but you can probably contact him through his website- www.desertracingconcepts.com

What's everyones thoughts about "solid" mounts, besides that it will make the ride rougher.....
so what, it's a TRUCK!
I'm thinking of pulling both mounts and go to a machine shop and see if they can duplicate them to solid mounts.

Over the long haul, solid mounts can do more than just roughen the ride. Cushioned mounts are there partly to protect the rest of the vehicle from the vibrations. Vibration can do strange things to machinery, especially when it varies in frequency. I run solid mounts in my mustang, and it makes the cd player skip at certain engine speeds. I would think that a diesel would be far worse. I personally would not consider running solid mounts in a diesel truck. Too many expensive things to get damaged-maybe not for a while, but eventually.

Interesting, I drove by a funeral home on Saturday in Boston and noticed a new Cadillac with a bed, looked like an updated El Camino, had the 4 oval exhaust tips as well.
