Question Mostly stock + ATS exhaust manifold, any benefit?

My truck is in stock condiditon except for the removed X baffle in the air intake and an aftermarket exhaust (not in the signature yet).

The question is, will the addition of an ATS exhaust manifold give me any benefits? I thought I remember reading that the stock turbo is the most restrictive part so adding this manifold to the stock turbo won't really do anything. Is this true?

Right now, I don't plan to add any performance stuff (boxes, injectors, different turbo, intake etc) to the truck just for your information. So what do you think? Thanks.

You might actually lose a hair of spool up with the bigger manifold on low boost conditions.
It should cool EGT's on high boost conditions.

You need to be in the 400-500 hp range before you need the ATS manifold.
Or if the stock one cracks!!
It was a minor change when I did mine.

Thats exactly right, thats probably about all it does, but i did notice when i first had it put on my turbo spooled up quicker than it did with my cracked manifold. But now that its been on bout a month i dont notice any difference at all. It might lower egt's but i aint sure.

ATS manifold

AKRAM installed a ATS manifold on his Dodge and said it was not worth the cost. He has been playing with quite a few turbos so the chance of him seeing any improvements should be good. On the plus side he did mention that it has a nice boss for mounting you EGT sensor.

Me likes the ATS manifold, I have had both the 2nd and 3rd gen versions.
Both are tough as nails and flow more than the stocker.

So with a stock turbo you might see lower EGTs and you might see faster spool upt and maybe better fuel economy. Dogger seems right to me, probably not be worth the cost, with a stock truck at least.

My $.02

I wouldn't do it unless I was doing the turbo,..too much work for not enough gain and if your doing a turbo then you must have done a box or boxes to make that worth wild. Keep in mind I believe you have the 04.5 and it already has a new and improved exhaust manifold that is superior to anything that was on the CTD prior. Another thought,...when and if you get to a upgraded turbo then if it is the right one for all the upgrades you will be running or going to, then it will cool sufficiently the hot spot that the ATS manifold is suppose to relieve. Catch 22!!!
