More on HID's

Well I want to replace all of my lights with HID's due to mountain driving but just can't decide which to get. Of the BiXenon kit's Ive been looking at I can't tell the difference in quality, only price. Whats wrong with the cheap ebay kits? Example http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-C...spagenameZWDVW

And how do they compare to the midrange ebay kits such as http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H13-H...QQcmdZViewItem

Finally are kit's from places like eurodezign worth the extra cash? Why so? I don't need anything to special will the cheap ebay kits work for me? Here is a link to the Eurodezign kit I was looking at, how is it better than the ebay kit?

https://www.eurodezigns.com/shop/detail.aspx?ID=139

Thank's for the help guys!

I think a lot of the price difference is the quality of the ballast and bulbs.

I recently bought a HID kit, and the drivers side bulb went out after a month or so

Was it a kit like I put links to? If so did you need a resistor? And how did you like it up until the bulb burnt out?

You will need a relay harness kit no matter which HID kit that you purchase. That's one of the biggest mistakes I see people making. The HID's really overload the factory switch and wiring and will eventually fry things -- in my case it was the first time I turned them on.

As said above, the biggest difference is the quality of the ballasts and bulbs. I bought one of those $100 eBay kits and the bulbs were nowhere near the same color. Returned them for another set and had the same thing happen. I've had three different kits and the only one that I was really happy with was a Xetronic kit. The product was top notch and the service was great. Bought it from XtraLights. With the cheap kits you risk having to buy ballasts and bulbs in the not-so-distant future. This really is one of the times where "you get what you pay for". :cool

By the way....... the $149 kit from eBay that you posted is just like the one I bought from eBay except mine didn't have the high/low feature. It is the one that I had all the bulb color problems with.

So these kits are not Plug & Play as advertised? I though 03-05 only had issues with the dash light and 06+ has issues with frying the switch

I didnt use a resistor, they came on fine. my kit was $200, i think the cheapo kits are just asking for disappointment, personally

That I can't answer. I know the switches have problems for sure on the 06+. The kits are plug & play but I would still recommend using a relay harness just to be on the safe side.

I heard the cheaper kits bulb colors weren't perfectly matched and had numerous heat issues.

the best thing to do is to use switches to turn on your hid lights and not use the truck wiring also to do it correctly and not blind other drivers you need to use projector lenses see hidplanet.com for info not good at posting pix but can email if requested

My buddies kit just came in the mail and it only plugs into one side of the the headlights harness. Is this normal? That would have to trip the lamp out dummy light.
