Moog Trackbar, Dead after 6,000 miles?

Its under warranty, but seriously, how could this happen?

Up and down play where it connects to the frame...

3rd gen trackbar

I replaced mine with a 3rd gen setup. Cured the wander as much as you can on a 2nd.

if you have up and down play, try to re-torque the nut.

They can wear fast, especially with dirt roads and snowplowing. 6,000 miles seems a bit premature. Take the carter pin out and see how much force it takes to spin the nut. I'll bet it's loose.

get the Solid steel and DSS steering box brace. I have it and it steers great and has no slack and dose not wander. The stock bar with the ball joint is junk and for a ball joint to work right it needs the stud to be 90* to the bar and load. Dodge puts it at about a 35-40* which tries to pull the ball out of the socket. The 3rd gen bar has a bushing at both ends.

What I've found replacing trackbars is the folks who drive fast on pot holed roads go though them very fast.

Track Bar

My first track bar lasted 100,000 miles. I am on my second and it has 52,000 on it and is still within specs.

I need a trackbar now and I need a price, this old style salesman tactics are very annoying, in fact I will buy somewhere else.

The 3rd gen uses the bushings at both ends like the one on the axle that you have now. PRD sells the track bar retrofit kit for $175, the bar for $235 ( or you can get it at the Dodge house) and the steering bracket for $189, and worth every $. My brother with a 02 3500 4x4 went threw 3 new bars from Dodge in less than 100K. Also 2 steering boxes. He towed a lot ( backhoe, fork lift, and lots of steel, and a 11K utility trailer every day. Only a little dirt road and they would still where out all the time. We only found out about the kit about 6 months befor he sold it. Put it on and it drove better than when he bought it with 23K. I have the kit now. I find if you use your truck the bar will go out soon. Most people just live with it. You may think your truck is in good shape until you put this kit in.
