what mod for towing
i would like to put a mild power increase on my truck that will do the least amount of increasing my rail pressure that is being used by someone who tows heavy and a lot. heavy means over 16k includes trailer and freight and does it about 80% of the time. 06 g56

I run my truck as listed, I tow well over 16K regularly, I have had the quad box (it is a pressure box) and ran it on 60HP while towing for a little over 50K miles with no problems. I put about 45% miles with a 5K empty trailer and 45% with anywhere from 15K to 25K. The other 10% is around town, ect.

I have been very happy with my Edge/att.i believe this is mostly a timing box, increases injection events, tow at 23000 lbs gross on the 40 hp setting, lots of power, also comes with a guage pod etc,35000 miles and no issues.

You will want a programmer that doesn't do rail pressure by default, or an Edge/Attitude (no pressure added).
If you are wanting to avoid pressure, don't get a Quadzilla box. They are good, but that is their primary way of adding power and you said you don't want pressure.
TST Is another option, but depends on your build date whether you can run it or not.
Being that you are towing heavy, I'd vote against the Edge since EGT's are a common complaint. I know it was very high EGT's when I had it on my 05. Go with a decent programmer. Browse the forums and see what everybody is running. You'll know what to get.

Smarty Jr. is what you need and a set of gauges. Edge Juice runs just way too hot. You can't use that power at all towing heavy. You will have more of a chance to use that additional power with the Smarty Jr.

After reading everything said so far, I'd have to agree with Spooler. I think the Smarty Jr would be the best bang for the buck and best candidate for what you want.

my edge runs a little hot but only when i am pulling a really big grade. keep in mind you can always change the edge on the fly (not sure you can do that on the smarty), if i know i am going into the mountains i just turn it down with no problems.
