i'm using the directions from http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/mor...r/Power_ve.htm i'm having a little troble even finding the full power screw, can someone help me out! thanks

 

the directions say it's under a "plastic cap" well i found a cap... but i as far as i can tell it's painted metal and i can't figure out how to get it off... also i want to make sure it's the right one!

 

The power screw is buried in close to the engine on the back of the pump. If you can barely get any tools on it, you've found it.

 

found it... what is the best way to remove the lock collar.... ? mine doesn't look like i have much room to turn

 

Remove the whole power screw so you can get at it, then you can pry it right off. Just leave the lock nut where it is so you have a reference of how far to screw it in.

There's a little sheetmetal washer and a big o-ring that will fall off when you pull the screw out, they are not important and don't need to go back on. Also some fuel will leak out when you remove the screw.

 

when i spun the lock collar... the screw spun as well.....
1 do i just continue to spin till it all comes out?
2 after the fuel comes out, are there any special things i have to do to start it?

 

1 - yep, just back it on out of there.

2 - nope, you only lose a little fuel. It might run lumpy for a few seconds, but it will fire right up.

 

ok... seems we are doing this step by step.
i've got it out.... what is the best way to pry it off?

 

I use a small screwdriver.

 

ok the collar it off.... it ruined some of the threads though... lookslike it would go 3 1/2 turns before it hits the bad threads. i don't plan on turning it nearly that far.... what incriments should i change it in?

 

ok, i gave it one full turn and i like it VERY much! can't imagine what it'd be like with a 16 instead of the 21 what did you guys use to tighten the lock nut... a socket? i can't seem to fit the ratchet in there, have a breaker bar, but couldn't get the correct angle to get it to work. idle is up to about 1000 i will fix that tomorrow

 

1/2 inch (13mm) wrench can be wormed in there with some patients. Hold the power screw with a flat blade screwdriver and twist the wrench...it helps to have the throttle rod disconnected. Think about investing in a 13mm gear wrench

I use a 1/4" drive 13 mm deep socket on the locknut.
