What mod next??

I have only had my CTD for a week, and the mod bug is starting to bite.(not a good thing according to my wife)
I have a boost and pyro gauge now, with a 4in BD exhaust.
I am interested the Edge Comp or the EZ, but not sure which one.
Looking for some ideas.

Thanks
Doug

just installed my EZ last week, after "listening" to these hard core power junkies for a year and a half. man, this little box rocks. the others are most likely good too, can't give an opinion on them. mileage is up, look like this when cruising the slab, one bit of advise i didn't follow was "buy the comp in the first place" i know me too well

I would put a fuel pressure gauge on there before much else!

The Comp is like an adjustable EZ until you tap the pump wire. Just be advised, your year truck has a bad reputation with the VP-44 and the Comp or any fueling box for that matter. If you get the Comp I would put some $$$$ aside for a new injection pump. From what I hear if you have one of the bad pumps it will take less than an hour before you find out once you pierce the wire. If you don’t pierce the pump wire you will have an adjustable EZ. And as mentioned above get a fuel pressure gauge if you don’t have one. I would also get the Wildcat Maximum Flow kit or at least their high flow banjo bolts.
Good Luck

You will probably find out the first 5x5 pull, I know I had mine pierced for all of 20 min. Quick way to spend some $$$, but at least it's a good excuse to get an updated pump. I'll probably get a comp. again when it's time to upgrade the clutch. I purposely got rid of the comp. and got an ez because I knew I couldn't handle not having the wire tapped. No will power I guess.

How well does the EZ perform? I may start with it. I just bought 2 ATVs and the truck in the past 3 months. My wife would be really upset if I bought a mod knowing it would break a pricey part .

EZ performs way better than stock yet not as good as a comp. If you have will power get the comp. but don't hook up the wire. Or buy a used EZ for cheap and some injectors. I know down here lot's of places will let you hook up an EZ and go for a drive to check it out, takes 2 min. to plug in

If youre scared of ruining your LP, you should think about a fuel pressure gauge and a FASS . Then a Comp, some EDMs, a ScottyII....

So, what exactly do you have to do to a truck to make it handle the Edge Comp??? I hear a lot of talk about it, but wondered what it takes to keep the injection pump from crapping out?

Also, what is/are EDMs?? I've heard that a few times too and wondered what it was/is??

I'm still new to this terminology.

It's just the 98 and 99's that have a higher risk of failing. They all can fail but the early years were really bad. EDM's are a brand of injector, a very good brand I'm told.

EDM stands for Electronic Discharge Machining. It is the type of machining used to make the injector holes. The brand is Formula One Diesel, more info here. http://www.f1diesel.com/page1.html
http://www.f1diesel.com/contacts.html
They usually have smaller holes but more of them that will atomize the fuel better. This will allow better combustion, which means less smoke and more fuel converted to energy. Black smoke is un-burnt fuel and with the price of fuel I don’t need to be blowing it out the exhaust.
I believe Don M who is on this site is one of the first if not the first to use this process to make the injectors for our trucks. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong here. I got mine at Source Automotive http://www.sourceautomotive.biz
. All I can say is they have worked as advertised for me.
