MK-2 micron fuel filter - lift pump

MK-2 micron fuel filter - lift pump
Hi,
I still seem to be hearing about lots of injector problems out there and I lost one with an all stock truck at 12000 miles. I bought the cummins for its reliability and was wondering if everyone is having issues. Anyway I am considering adding a second fuel filter between the stock filter (using fleetguard 7 micron) and the injection pump. This is the one I am considering...http://store.dieseltruckresource.com/mkfikit0dora.html.
Would this be ok on a stock lift pump and the smarty jr on tow setting (70 hp)?
Are people with 2 micron fillters having injector failures also? Thanks.

I would think your lift pump should be ok but I would get a fuel pressure gauge just to be safe. I am going to add something like that soon but int he mean time I have a Baldwin FP7977 5 micron filter in my canister and it seems to do ok.

Running a stock truck with the added filter should work fine. A FP gauge would verify that. Another thing to do is drain your fuel canister more often to ensure no water issues.

I would get the MK-2 + Big Line kit since you're using the factory lift pump. I've been running mine with the stock lift pump and various 100 h.p. power adders for just over 26,000 miles now and don't have any fuel pressure issues.

OK, dumb question...
Here is what the glacier diesel site says....
"The MK-2 System is only for trucks with stock intake manifolds and without the engine mounted APPS. For trucks with engine mounted APPS or aftermarket intake manifolds please see our Universal Remote Mount kits."
OK, what exactly is the APPS (some sensor maybe?) and is it engine mounted on my stock truck?

Apps is the black box looking device right below your upper intake manifold:
Is is the black thing underneath my Banks High Ram....they make a universal kit. So does vulcan diesel:

Look just in front of your intake horn at the front driver side of the engine. If you have a black plastic box attached there you'll need the universal kit. Otherwise, you can use what I have. Notice the filter hanging under the intake horn. If you have the engine mounted APPS it will mount where my air compressor sits and hang in the way of the filter.
