I live about 30 miles East of Springfield in the National Forest area.

I'm near Joplin, bring that truck and come on over to El Dorado.

I'm going to call J and see if he is coming for sure or not. I need to get a head to him for my truck anyway. My truck is set-up more to race than pull but I like attending the pulls. How far from Joplin is the pull?

Where is the pulling track located. Fairgrounds?

I'm in Springfield, MO. There are alot of pulls around the Central part of MO as well. Jeff City Fair does a big diesel class (July 29), and California is doing one (Aug 1) both usually have good turnouts. I'll be there:D

The Cooper County fair diesel pull is this Thursday and I'm told it pays $1000 to win and $150 for 3rd. Single turbo with no adapter to fit on manifold. The fairgrounds is just off I-70, west of Boonville, MO. lc

Yeah there's supposed to be a fair amount of trucks show up thurs. night, from what i've heard. Do you have any idea what the entry fee's going to be? Are you planning on pulling.

I'm going, possibly bringing mine and a buddy's automatic 3gen. I called them for info on it, but nobody has called me back yet. Should be a heck of a good show. The show-me-smokers will be there too, so it should be a competitive field.

I'll be pulling in California if my clutch makes it through the Boonville pull tomorrow:D Probably Jeff City too.

You can only pull a diesel on the first night (non-sanctioned) at Jeff, it doesn't allow weights or anything, though. California only has one night of pulling, it's usually got a pretty good turnout, and better competition. BTW the Diesels pull 1st thing at Cali. and last at Jeff on Thursday.

It's mostly Dodge 2nd gens. Although there should be a few more 3g's this year. Last year there were a few Ford's nothing impressive though. Your stock hitch will be fine, but you won't want to use that drop. Just get a standard reciever and put a 4" clevis in it. My hitch is right at the limit of 26" . The sled is 40k and the weight comes on quick at these little pulls.

Though I no longer own my old '98.5 I've been asked to drive it at Boonville and California. It has a stock engine out of a wrecked '02 with only tweaked injectors and outside mod's. We may stick a decent engine in it for Scheids Extravaganza though.......................lc

Well about 20 trucks showed up, ALOT of spectators, and it was a heckuva good time.
1st place went to one of the Show-me-smokers with a 301ft pull. It paid $1000
It was a 2nd gen 24v green QC with a single stack in the bed
2nd went to Brad Hodler out of Russelville in his 01 Maroon QC with a pull of 296. It paid $650
3rd went to Leonard Bradshaw of Versailles in his 02 with 293. It paid $350
Interesting thing was, there were 2 Fords there, one was an 86, and one was a 00, but both had Cummins, both also broke driveline parts...lol Ford trucks can't handle the Cummins power. There was only one D-max and it was in the 260 range.
I managed to pull 166 pedaling it then letting out, and the clutch never caught, the tires never spun, and welded itself together by then, guess the DD is on the way:D

the only stock trucks that were there were the other two 3rdgens and they had small boxes. I talked to a few guys that had dynoed, and I definitely was in the top 3 power wise, but just couldn't get it to the track... It was definitely a sweet pull, I'm gonna do my best to make the California pull with the new DD clutch, but Jeff City will be tough to make.

That show me smoker is cleaning up with all the local pulls. He also won the st. Peters picnic pull about 2 weeks ago. Thing about it that's not even the baddest Dodge in the show me smokes Jeff straukemp has the 92 Dodge that pulls it out the gate every time. Is anybody gonna be at the washington fair pull thursday?
WhiteSport600
07-25-2005, 11:54 AM
The Jeff City pull is Thursday as well. It's closer for me, and they don't allow front weights, which is a huge advantage for me. And the Show-me smokers will probably go to Washington instead. I just hope I've got my clutch in by then.

Straukamp's 92 is a mean, machine. He couldn't get the turbo lit at Boonville though. He petered out at about 150ft.

Alright guys i want to try one pull with my truck, it is a stock 04 48re with just a Ramifier box. What do I need (hitch insert, helmet, etc). I don't plan on winning, just want to give it a view from the drivers seat instead of the stands for once.
Also what are the potential breaking points with a 4-low pull with stock BFG tires??? Should it stay in drive and just hammer down, or should I keep it in 2nd tow/haul and allow the convertor to lock-up???
thanks in advance,
Dave

Are you planning on pulling tonight in Jeff? I'm trying to get some miles on my DD clutch before pulling it. You'll need a standard receiver hitch w/o a ball and a clevis to go through the hole in it. The clevis needs to be bigger than 3" center diameter. Thats it. On your auto, I would just put it in Drive on the low side and let it eat(tow on of course). It'll kick down at the end of the pull, but that's okay. If you hold it in 2nd it'll be on the limiter at half track.

Thanks for the infor, didn't pull in Jeff Co, I want to get into the St. Charles County fair since it is only about 15 miles from the house and if something happens, then it would be a short track home. I think their are another couple of fairs real soon so I will keep an eye out.
Thanks again, and keep me posted on the fair dates since they tend to sneak up quick and aren't very advertised.
Thanks again, maybe I can watch you pull and get some pointers.

Did Larry Win??
Don~
WhiteSport600
07-29-2005, 11:42 AM
Brad Hodler from Russelville got first w/303ft
Larry Crawford got 2nd w/295
After that it got pretty vague. It was a just-for-fun pull, and we all had a good time. I never got the turbo lit, because I didn't slip the clutch enough out of the hole... It never got over 1800rpms and not over 15psi. I'm just not used to the clutch yet, I'll be ready for California on Monday though!
Thanks for the vids Jon, Excellent quality...

Are there any stock pulls coming up from Jeff up north, I kinda like pulling the old work truck. It's got to be a weekend pull as I put in a lot of hours working and can't fit a weekday pull in. The pull for the heck of it is my kind of pull!:) Thanks,Gary

California is tonight, and Fulton is tomorrow night. Cal. is kinda serious, don't know about Fulton. Check this site for most of the area diesel pulls http://www.showmesmokers.com/events.asp

Excellent job on the vids John! It's very cool of you to take the time to load these up and post them... BTW: Larry's truck was having some problems and was down on power quite a bit, so he did not pull. He's been having some issues with the Redline box, and he installed some different injectors, and the truck developed a weird intermittent miss, and wouldn't build much boost. It wouldn't surprise me if the "hotrod" VP44 is dying in that thing...

just one question, where were the chebbys?

I think Palmyra,Mo. is sat, it's up by Hannibal and Quincy,Il. They are seperating the diesels from the gas and single tire trucks from the dually trucks and different wts. for both. They pull two tracks up there and put on a pretty good pull. The computer went out of my 97 so it's probably out of commission this weekend.

Well there wasn't alot of trucks, maybe a dozen in both diesel classes but the dodges cleaned house. There was a dually with single tires out of Iowa that ran frikkin HARD. It had way more power than anything out there. A duramax that smoked alot pulled but only made about 200 ft. I think two dodges were full pulls.
