missing or skipping

On my 99 at wot, it sounds like it is missing or skipping. It kind of sounds like it is beating off the rev limiter but it does it from 1000 rpm and up. When my edge is on it barely does. Any idea what it might be?

Sounds like your rev limiter is kicking in. I believe the 99 if like the 02's will do this??? Or could be a wiring or programming issue in the Edge....What Edge are you running? A Comp box?

Edge drag comp. But I thought the rev limiter was at like 2700 stock and 3200 for the drag comp.

I had a similar problem with surging under acceleration. The surging was not noticeable with comp off and got worse as the comp was turned up. Felt like the truck was defueling. After much testing etc. a boost sensor low voltage code came up a few times. Replaced the boost sensor and problem has not returned (yet). I think the boost sensor was going bad and was basically telling the computer that there was low or no boost and it would defuel based on the boost sensor (which was false) and as actual boost fell it would pick up again and begin to fuel again only to defuel again and so on. Boost would max out at 23psi vs the normal 30+. Now with a new boost sensor no surging and max of 34 psi boost with no other changes to the truck.

Seems this surging is common to the 99 model trucks but everyone comes up with different causes for it. Some believe it is the edge box itself. I lived with it for over a year before discovering the boost sensor to be the culprit in my situation. No-one seems to have a real good handle on the problem.

Hope this helps.
