Missing & Dying

I seem to be developing a problem. Yesterday i noticed while at a red light I could feel a slight miss, but put if off as being in my head. Today at low speed if i got off the pedal sharply it would die, Especially while backing my trailor. now some time It has no miss, sometime slight miss. I'm New to diesel trouble shooting. I did have a 6.5 suburban but all i did was put fuel in it. Does anyone have any ideas where to start troubleshooting.

An easy one is idle speed. What does the tach read? It should be 850-1000

Idle speed

My Idle is at about 500, How do i adjust it and what would cause it to change.

I don't have any power loss, No smoke and milage has gone up since the first of the year.

Idle speed

Is it common for the idle speed to change or could it be a sign of some other problem

I, too, had that problem and soon after my throttle linkage broke as well. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone and replaced the linkage with a simple turnbuckle with a lock nut on it. All I did was crank the idle screw all the way in so the idle adjustment revolved around turnbuckle only....much simpler and easier to adjust IMHO
