Miss in low gear

Hey guys, just a quick question for you. I recently added a 3k gsk, 370's and con fe to my truck and when I leave hard from a stop it starts snapping and popping through the exhaust with some grayish smoke around 2600 rpm, but once I'm rolling it doesn't seem to do it. My self diagnosis is that I need more timing. Am I right or is it something else. If anyone needs more info to help correct this please ask.

Thanks in advance
Russ

I agree, but I would also check fuel pressure. Should be 18 psi or over at idle, then speed up the engine and make sure it doesn't drop.

If you havent had the timing advanced with that much fuel I would say that is a pretty good guess to the problem. Advance it to 16.5 - 17 and you will notice a big difference.
