mileage

Hi I'm new to the diesel scene,I'm looking at a 2006 3500 dually 4wd.It has 460,000 kms on it with new clutch and a banks turbo.Should I be worried about anything? thanks

Welcome to the DTR!

286,000 miles is quite a bit on an '06...

I would go over everything and make sure you get a good deal on it, knowing repairs may be coming.

Thanks, but I just found out it sold.I also have been looking at a 96 with 196 000 kms. Has new tranny in it,what is a killer pin in the engine?

the kdp (killer dowel pin) is a 75 cent part that can destroy your engine. It lines up the gear case on the front of the motor and the motor vibration can cause it to come loose and then bounce around the gear case. Best case, if it does come out, it will drop into the oil pan. Worst case, it will drop into the case gears and bust things up REALLY bad. Its a few hours to do and not that hard of a fix. Ask the current owner if its ever been done.

There are some cases where the 24v is affected. Only one way to find out for sure though. My 2000 didn't have it
