Might go look at an 03 today-any advice?
As said, I might go look at an 03-3500 single today. I really like my 99 and I know it's history, so I'm not in a real bind to swap, but the QC sure gets small at times. That full back seat wuld really be nice. I plan on taking my fuel pressure gauge if I go. There's no warranty, and the price is $13k. It's loaded with everthing but leather, and has 115,740., 373 LS rear end.
Does the 03's still have a VP? Where would the port be to check fuel pressure? And are there any other specefic things to look at on an 03?

no longer vp pump it has a cp3 im not sure if there is a port to check the fuel pressure. ask if it has had any injector replaced in it becuase that is a common problem pay attention to how much it cranks when trying to start it. if it cranks a while before starting that is a sign of injectors leaking off. but with the truck priced at 13000 you will be miles ahead to buy it and have don m rebuild the injectors and put some small performance tips on it. find out if it has the update lift pump from dodge. if it is updated the pump will be in tank. the original will be mounted to the back of the filter base. but other than these 2 things there isnt many other problems

Awsome. If it's not gone by this afternoon, I just might talk myself into it. I did notice by the vin that it was assembled in Mexico. Are the 53 blocks still showing up in an 03?

What kind of mileage should I expect out of this? I drive what I call normal. I take it easy. I'm obviously never in a hurry to get to work. i don't like to run any mods. I don't lay smoke trails. I'm getting about 20 withwhat I have now.

Check and see the build date or look at the driver side of the valve cover, to see which motor it has.
This should tell you the HP rating.
If it is an auto, depending on the build date, it may have the 47 trans or the better 48 sreies.

There were a lot of complaints of driveline and PS hose vibrations and noisy, leaking door gaskets. A lot of 03s got shipped low on diff lube and DC got to buy a lot of diff rebuilds. The earlier steel alternator brackets can crack. My early 03 is awesome and hasn't had ANY of the early 03 problems. Sounds like you drive like me. I get 19.5+ mpg - that's the biggest reason I only considered an 03 - 04.4 SO or HO when I upgraded. My mpg will probably drop about 1 now that it's fulltime AC weather again. You can find the diff ratio on a tag inside the glovebox door. Craig

I looked at it last night. It looked and drove really nice. A few scratches, but nothing that I probably wouldn't cause myself after I had it for a time.
i was concearned about alot of oil buildup on the side of the block at the head gasket line. There was no oil above that, that might indicate a valve cover leak, but it could heve been cleaned by the guys in back.
I passed on it because the terms they were offering were hidious. 10.75 non negotialable in house financing. $3000 trade in value for my 99.
The wife still wants to try to get it with other financing. The relaxing part about this deal was I don't need to trade. I can drive my 99 for a couple of more years. Personally, I'd like to see it roll to the 1/4 million mark.

If you have decent credit, go to a bank or credit union. Get a loan and pay the dlr cash. $3000 for your '99? What a joke (unless it's beat up beyond recognition).
