Help! I'm about ready to lay down $150. a tire from Sams Club for the 215 85 16 XPS. The more I read posts the more I get confused. I heard the XPs rib is twice as heavy as the XPS traction. Am I making the right decision? I haul my 5th wheel 17,000. lbs.


Then I heard about shocks. I was going to get the Bliesteins and heard they have trouble with the bushings, but they wern't that great for 4x2 only 4x4. So I laid down about 200. for stocks for the front from the Dodge dealer. Now I heard the stock shocks are not good, but they seem to ride OK.

Now, I'm thinking batteries. The red top Optima is supposed to be the best, but doesn't fit that great. I have the original in my truck and I think I have to change. Always had luck with the Interstate...don't know what to do

I'm going with the Michelin rib on my next set of rubber.

As for batteries, I bought two of the Advance Auto parts Titanium series batteries (same warranty, & more CCA than Optimas) for about what I would have paid for ONE Optima.

they should have the tire specs for the rib and the traction there at Sams and you can compare the difference in weight. I run the tractions and love them

Just put two Optima Red's in my truck, good mod, they crank the engine over much better than the old Fleetright's I had. Mine are the big Redtops at 800 cca's, more cca's than came stock in the truck. I also didn't have any trouble with the fit they are actually smaller than most 700cca batteries, mine fit right in the trays and the hold downs fit right over them. The down side is the Optimas are high $$$$$, picked mine up for $125 apeace, but I'm tired of replacing batteries every 2 years. >

As for your Bilstien question I love mine, had them for 2 years now and they are a vast improvement over the stockers, and no bushing problems to speak of hear.

I put Bilstiens on my truck a couple of months after buying it new and love them. The stock shocks had very little dampening especially in the front. ;D

I run the XPS on the back of my truck and will not run anyother tire. i get the best miles out of them with weight and wear and tear i put on them.
