messed with the truck
i painted my valve covers and "CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL" on my badges and crossover tube electric cobalt blue rustoleum spray paint, sprayed the paint on cardboard then used a brush to paint the letters. looks pretty dang good, im gonna sand blast them here before too long and paint them back the same blue, i plan to paint the compressor housing the same color, will the temps be ok or will it burn off??? attempted to straight pipe the truck at 10 pm last nite, welding in the dark upside down with 6013 rod isnt the best idea, back weld broke about 1/2 way through the day today, so now it sounds like a N14 with straight stacks. but man it sure does have one nasty sounding discharge to it and shakes windows in town, almost sounds like it has some power LOL. im gonna fix the exhaust tomorrow before i head to tollesboro. i am also getting a "free" set of weld wheels 16x8 typhoons or razorbacks or something like that, my buddy is letting me run them so i can wear out the AT tires on them, he hates the tires and they are in decent shape, he is pretty much giving them to me, ill make payments to him when i got the money, over 200 bucks a wheel easy, ill give probably him the price of one new wheel and tire if that. after i wear out those tires ill put a new set on the wheels. sorry if i am rambling, just thought id share some of the stuff ive done over the last few days just in case it gave anyone ideas. the middle 2 valve covers are a pain in the butt to get of cause you got to remove the crossover tube. ill try and get some pics of everything and post them up. hopefully i can get my spring spacers before too long.

WOW Dude!!
Do you drink Redbull professionally? Or is it just a serious habit.
Seriously though, Why not polish those valve covers? Getcha some 'bling' under that hood! It's Really easy! Just take the valve cover off and sand for hours just to get through the Factory Cummins paint (I swear it's a 1/8th inch thick!) Once ya get that done you get to sand out the casting imperfections. That don't really take too long, considering you are polishing aluminum and to do it right you gotta use about 19 different grits of sandpaper, and then a final polish. Just to realize that. The aluminum used to cast these STUPID VALVE COVERS really ain't the highest quality metal!!! There's pits everywhere, and don't get me started on the streaks!
But, I guess if you wanna paint your valve covers, that's your choice!
Good Luck!!
Oh, and BTW, if you'd get an intercooler you would never speak, nor type the words, Crossover tube again! And you'd gain lotsa HP, and Torque!

yeah and that intercooler costs more money than i got right now, i will be getting a smaller compressor housing before too long, ill have the valve covers chromed before i try polishing those things, ill have to wait to get the pictures after i get my wheels on, cause its just got factory steels with beauty rings now, it poured here today, thank god, so we didnt get to do it today, so it might be tomorrow or sunday before i get them on. i like the blue, so i think ill keep it, better than black or red.
