Was it me or a faulty ball joint???

I just finished putting new Upper and Lower ball joints in my truck (3500 4x4) and it is now about a weak later and yesterday I hit a bump with the wheel turned and heard a bang...I broke the pass upper! It looks like the ball and shaft pushed up,broke off the top and popped through about an 1/8 inch.It is still tight but I kinda thought the old "30 feet or 30 sec" warranty was a figure of speech.Any one ever hear of this???They are .5* offset.I've done a lot of ball joints but I've never heard of this happening.I even followed the sequence and spec for installing them from the manual. They were not cheap bj's either. They are from NAPA I think they are Dana parts.

Gawd! I hope this isn't the "norm" for those joints! I installed some on my truck ( NAPA standard - not offset) about 10k miles ago! Sorry to hear it! Definately want to bring it to your NAPA store's attention too!

Yeah I talked to them about it already...I kinda hope it isn't the "norm" I have 3 other napa balljoints in there now! What upsets me the most is these are not exactly the easiest things in the world to change.BUT it was all just apart/cleaned/anti-sieze'd just over a week ago so it should come apart pretty easy again. It's just not how I like to spend my time.
