Hi, I just got the MBRP exhaust system and it looks great. I dropped the old system and went to install the downpipe but I just can't get it to go in place.

Can some one please tell me what the trick is?

just use a very long extension push up on the flange with the bolt thru it and in the socket allready, i dont see how it can be done otherwise. it took me a while doing it by myself. put a rubber band in the socket to hold the flange bolt so it doesnt fall out. if i remember correctly i did hand install one side of the flange bolts from up top first. use antiseize on the bolt threads, goes a little easier.

I ran into the same problem with my 4" silverline. When I was under the truck I held the pipe horizontal and slid it towards the rear of the truck on top of the frame crossmember. It just took lots of trying different positions to get it to go up right. If I remember correctly it was the downpipe mount bracket that's on near the tranny that was in my way. Keep at it and it will fit without taking anything apart.

The next trick was getting the bolts back on the top end. A trip to Lowe's for three 10" socket extentions did the trick.

Yes, The downpipe mount is in jamming the turbo flange of the downpipe toward the frame and the bend is jamming on the side of the tranny.

I even dropped the the rearmost crossmember but I can't get it to slip into position.

I have the Installer series 4" turbo back.

I dont have have a digital camera with a flash and I don't get to the truck till dark so I can't get you any pics today sorry. Can you still help me?

I looked at the posibility of removing the down pipe bracket but is is part of the tranny mount and looked like it was goint to be quite involved. When I was trying to install it the night before I was attempting to rotate the tail end of the downpipe toward the passenger side or counter clock wise if your looking from the rear. That is when It would jam between the downpipe mount, the tranny and the frame. Once I removed the rear crossmember support I realized that I can rotate it the oposite direction and it slipped right into position.



The exhaust it really nice. I can't wait to take it for a test drive.

I too had some fun installing the headpipe, but after some potty mouth, it fit right in. I really like the MBRP system, it fit the way it should and the sound is great!!!

The fastest way to install a larger down pipe is to remove a few bolts on the turbos cast iron elbow so you can rotate the elbow up and out of the way so the down pipe will slide down and in "like buttahhh". Made the instalation of my exhaust a breeze. Took me a few tries to get it in and without a lift to make sliding it in from the bottom work the top down aproach is pretty easy.
