I have a 05 short bed. I'm installing the aluminized cool duals on a 05 quad cab, short bed. It seems like i dont need to use the extension at all. Is this normal? Very undetailed instructions.

My Silverline came with an extension and i am going to assume that it will be for either the Megacabs or the long beds, so just try to assemble without it and see where that leaves you.

The stock exhaust is clamped together pretty tight, so you might have to drop the transfer case skid plate and pull the WHOLE thing off in one piece (that's what we ended up doing), then hang your muffler and go from there piece by piece...let us know if you have anymore questions.

MBRP sends you the extension that will work with the longest application. You do have to cut to length on shorter versions. I hope you don't mind droning if you pull a trailer? I had to pull mine off after the second trip.
