Max Power??? Is there such a thing.

I was told by a BD employee that their truck made more power than anybody else diesel truck. I kinda laughed they can pull 740rwhp with a heavy dose of propane and Nos. I have heard of guys running that with no drugs. Has anyone ever run faster than 11.73sec in a quarter with a diesel truck? Does anybody have anything better than these numbers? Is it posible to better these numbers with a VP44 truck?

Mike:

There are other diesel trucks that have made more
horespower and better quarter mile times than BD's
truck!

Richard Madsen has a Ford Diesel that ran 11.29 @ 118 MPH
in the quarter mile at Rocky Mountain Raceway near Salt Lake,
City last year. Just recently, Nowel Thomas' old truck got into
the 10's (I recall it was 10.29) out in California and Jeff Garmon
from "Garmon Diesel Performance" near Atlanta also runs in
the low to mid 10's!

On horespower I know that Doug Smith (Jetpilot) has run his
2001 Dodge CTD at Kaufman Motorsports where he ran
over 740 H.P. on just #2 diesel and over 800 on nitrous.
So yes, it definitely can and is being done. There are others
too that are way up there.

John,

HVAC's old rig did not run that 10.92. That was another guy. The thread got all confusing. It was actually Bill Fletchers truck.

Mike,

Others have made more but BD had something to be proud of two years ago when they did it!!

Anyone over 700 has something to be proud of.

Shouldn't that be a Ford with a Cummins that ran 11.29?

Don't want people to thing a Powerstroke is capable of that time now do we?

Yes you are right "phox",......sorry about that!
I stand corrected!

Don:

I wasn't trying to "dismiss" what BD accomplished only to
let Mike know that there are other trucks out there that
are "up there" in the H.P. and also running lower quarter
mile times too. You and I both know that "the bar has
definitely been raised" in those areas!

--------
Mike:

I also forgot about our own DTR Member Jim Fulmer. As I
recall his truck made 774 H.P./1350 Torque right before
the first of the year. Jim,.....did I get that right??

Thanks guys, I was kinda told that I could never run with the big boys so go home. I do agree that their numbers are pretty impressive so I may have some homework. I just bought a PDR twin turbos the HT3B/HX40 package. I was only planning to building a good trailer puller and run 45 psi. So now I either have to come to the table and play or just watch you guys from the side lines.

Mike:

IMO, anyone that told you that just doesn't have much
sense!!

If you have purchased a set of Piers' Twin Turbos you are
definitely on the right track in making big H.P.! What the
person/persons who made that statement to you better
realize is that ANYONE can get up to the numbers we have
posted if you have the time and money to do it! I would
also say that a person should pick the right components
and have the right diesel performance shop doing engine
or machine work if that is applicable!

Good luck on your BOMBING plan Mike!

There's no such thing as to much power!! In all seriousness though, if you take your time, do your research, and make sure that all of the components will help each other and work well with each other, I see no reason why you couldn't crack 600+hp. Well, maybe if you run out of money.

phox

Sure we do let them think its a PJoke, especially as a Fordcummins passes them, then they go and buy a PJoke instead of a Cummins so then the demand and price stays low for our beloved 6 cyls. And all those poor guys keep dumping big bucks and wondering why thier 444's arent getting much for performance and mileage.
