What is the max for my EGT's?
What is the max temp I want to hit with my EGT's? I have the Xzillaraider and I easily go over 1350 when on the 60hp setting.

are we talking max for a few seconds in a dyno run or drag race, or sustained temps when towing and pulling grades?
preturbo, or post?
from your #'s i am assuming preturbo, and 1350* is ok for a few second blast, but not for continued usage.
i try to keep mine at or below 1300 for pulling grades.

You get that with the Xzillaraider standard? I haven't gotten over 1200 degrees on setting 3 on the standard box. Maybe thats the race box? I have the silencer ring removed and have a K&N air filter. Only mods other than cleaning out the air tube from air filter box to the turbo. Might be something else going on? Is that towing?

I have an 07 5.9 and when I tried the XZT towing box I easily hit 1400 just under WOT, took it off and still hit 1400 under WOT. Don't think it's just the box, just think the trucks run a lot hotter, which worries me when towing as I tow a 33' 5er. Just recently got the Recon gauge set so that I can see where I'm going when loading the truck. Only have 5000 miles on it so maybe it's still a little tight also.

My stock 06 hit's 1400+ no problems. Thats pre turbo also. It sounds high but if dodge sends these trucks out knowing that the EGT will hit that temp and not include an EGT gauge, I do not have a problem with that temp. If something heat related happens, it is their dime, not mine. I do not keep it at those temps but I am not afraid of going there for short burst's.
I have added an mbrp cool dual exhaust which dropped the egt a little but not much. As it is a cat back system the cat is still causing a restriction.

these newer engines run hot, i can bury my isspro egt guage pre turbo at 1500 at high allitude towing heavy if i want. no boxes or extra fueling. dont sweat it, take it from me my friend has a 600 series, and we've climbed cabbage hill in 102 degree heat towing his 40ft toy hauler loaded to the gills and he held his pyro at 1400 POST turbo for 15 minutes straight! that was 70000 miles ago, hes well over 100000 now and that engine has never ran better.

As far as I know it's the standard box, I bought it from a fellow member and that is what he told me it was. I have the same mods as you do as far as the ring and gutting the tube. These temps are not towing, just getting on it around town. Could it be a glitch in the Commander? I can't see why our temps would be so drastically different. Could the 90 degree + days have anything to do with it?

This is my first CTD, and I have a similar question.
After installing my pyrometer (after the turbo) I went out to test my Commander set up.
My Smarty is set on SW#3 and I'm running with stock intake and exhaust systems. I attempted to make a full throttle run up a small grade unloaded for about a 1/3 of a mile. My EGT edged past 1000 degrees before hitting the top of the hill and I backed off the throttle.
I live in Las Vegas and it was probably between 105-110 when I ran the test.
My EGTs match up with others member's post turbo EGT readings on flat land at cruising speeds (65-75), but I'm wondering if the high reading under acceleration is normal or should I add/change something to ensure I don't damage the engine?
Any thoughts/wisdom would be appreciated. TIA!
