The newer common rail trucks easily hit 1500+ degrees and the common belief is that as long as it's only for a short period ( a couple seconds) that it shouldn't hurt your engine. Mine has been that high but only when driving like an idiot! Towing around 10,000lb from Mississippi to Virginia, I never saw higher than 1300 degrees......

My 05 and now 06 could hit 1400* bone stock in a 0-80+ run or pulling a grade with the hammer down.....agreed with the above, keep it at <1400 sustained and breif spurts to 1450+.....
With the smarty, hard to get over 1200* under any circumstance.

I'm only using level 3....as i dont have the supporting mods to use the higher levels (trans, turbo)....i would imagine that using level 5-9 w/o an aftermarket turbo / boost fooling software would get to high egt's pretty quickly.
Different softwares have a different impact on egt's as well. The aftermarket injector softwares (using stock injectors)...dont rattle, but they definately have higher egt's than the standard injector softwares....
I dont have the version handy, but it's the version previous to the march 21 release....standard injector, standard turbo, mild tq mgmt

What location is your EGT sensor? With my Smarty I can hit 1300* easily with all SW. Mine is Pre Turbo.
Also If you installed front Timbrens HOW did you did them to seat in that "cup"? I have tried 3 times unsuccessfully last time with oil and that darn solid rubber block refuses to compress and seat. Called and they said to grind the rubber down to fit... How did YOU do it?
I had the front of the truck lifted (front tire off the ground) on jack stand. Floor jack under lower shock mount. Inserted Bump stop "block" (with oil) into cup and lifted axle compressing Timbren bumper... Still the block would only go in 1/2-3/4 way... lowered axle and it fell out.
I can not seem to get those stupid things IN!

Some things i can think of....if you're not on the version i reference above, and your not on the march 21st version....pm bob and see if he'll send you the version above....if you're on the march 21st version, pm bob for a fix...there was a thread that it was also a hot runner and he's got an update.....also, can't see your sig in edit mode here, but do you have an intake and exhaust? may have something to do with it?? Also, some people have said that a build date later than 5/06, Chrysler made some changes that cause the motor to run hotter (exhaust valve something,...) not to sure on this, but it could be something to look into....
I hope this helps....have you discussed with Bob W? Also, if you wish to discuss, pm me and i'll give you my phone number....
On the Timbrens....i havent installed them yet....i have a broken leg (2 places) and a torn acl....i've been couch bound since Feb 18th....sorry, not much help....do a search on here and tdr on "timbrens"...and pm some of the people that gave them positive reviews...they may have some answers....let me know if you find anything helpful out...
Hope that was helpful....thank god for these sites....keep me busy so i dont want to swallow the gun barrel watching daytime tv! J/K :-)
