View Full Version : MATDR meeting in Dec
Kimrey

Ok heres the deal. Chris and I have set a date fore Dec. 7 for us all to meet. It will be at the Ashboro Zoo. There is a campground nearby, and I have to call to make the arange ments. That will be posted. But for now we want to let everybody know of the up-coming event. We will install a fuel pressure gauge, and if someone else would like to do something else, let me or Chris ( CRud ) know. We picked the zoo because its located in the middle of N.C., and the wife and kids can go to the zoo. ( If they want ). I would like to see everybody who has a camper come and camp with Chris and I. If anybody would like to stay in a hotel, there are plenty around that area. Lets all get together before the hollidays, and kick it off right.

If you plan on camping, e-mail me @ firefighter812@alltel.net

or call me @ 980-722-2090. That way I can get enough camping spots!

Thanks, Kimrey

Be a little cold to stretch the sleeping bags out on the goose neck this time of year but don't mind the motel thingy. Are training wheel trucks from Va invited too?

Ok here's what I've found out so far. The campground closet to the zoo that will be open is the Holly Bluff Family Campground. It's 20.00 night for power, watewr, sewer. I think it's kinda expensive for this time of year, but there open. He did say we would probably have the run of the place. The web address for the campground is www.rvcampground.com/nc/hollybluff/. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Kimrey

Sorry Joel,
I couldn't resist! ;D
I pulled it up on my puter map gizmo and it tells me that it's about a 4 hour drive from my place to the campground that Kimrey mentioned. The route is I-85 / I-40 mainly.
Dieseldude4x4
11-10-2002, 01:04 PM
Yeah, that's what I saw too. It tells me to go to Petersburg first to get on 85 but I can shoot right out 40 to Blackstone and get on there. You should be able to do the same.

When are you planning to drive down if you get to go?

You can pull up the Ashboro web site, and they have listings and links to area hotels, as well as maps. Rattlinram, are you pulling your camper and staying the weekend?

Scott,

You can count me in. I may be able to talk the wife and kids into too. I don't know about camping, may be a little cool in a tent. I'll bring that bracket I mentioned for your fuel pressure sender. If you don't like it, it won't hurt my feelings a bit. Looking forward to catching up with everyone, since I've been outta the loop for a while.

David

I guess you and Chris will be staying at the campground that you mentioned?? I'll see if I can get a hold of Charles and Marge. What day are you going to be getting to the campground,,,, Friday night or Saturday morning?
PapaSmurf
11-13-2002, 10:57 PM
Scott
I'll post some direction and info on the camp ground, I think we stayed there one time when we went to the Denton Farm park.
We are planning on driving out on Friday afternoon, If I remember right it should be about a 4 hour ride for us.
I will bring the tools and a mounting bracket like the ones I used on my wifes truck and mine. You can then choose which mounting bracket you want to use Davids or mine. No big deal.
You will need to bring one of the Ray's banjo bolts that is threaded with 1/8 inch pipe thread. I replaced the scherader valve at the inlet of the injection pump. Don't forget to get new seal rings for the banjo bolt. Some folks reuse them but I don't like to they are cheap and it prevents having a leak. :'( :( A 18 inch grease gun hose with steel fittings on it (the brass ones tend to leak is what I read somewhere) a 2 inch hose clamp (to clamp the sending unit to the mounting bracket) The gauge to include the sending unit. The pod to mount the gauge in.
It should take about an hour to hook everything up. The install is pretty easy the wireing can be a pain in the you know what.

I am thinking about bringing the stuff to make a big ole pot of chili. What do ya say should we plan on haveing chili and hot dogs for lunch and then the folks that want to go to the ZOO do there thing and the folks who want to stay and shoot the breeze can do that too.

I hope to do the gauge install in the morning. I would like to extend the invite out to other 24 valved CTD that if you get the above suppies I will help you install them or if time permitts I will put it in for you. I just need you to let me know so that I can bring enough supplies.

For Non Camper Folks
I will get ahold of the camp ground and make sure it is the one I think it is and then post directions from local cities. That should be by the end of the week.
Hope to get some new faces together.
See Ya
Chris

Chris, you took the words right out of my mouth on the lunch thing. Chilie sounds good to me, it should be cool that day, if not cold. Do you want to bring the lunch and everybody just drop a couple of dollars, or do you want everybody to bring something to add with the chillie? Rattlinram, I will be down that Fri. evening. I should get there around 4:00 at the latest. I will have a fire going, I will leave the fire on for ya. LOL. I'm getting excited, I'm like a kid at Christmas!

Kimrey

Mighty fine Joel. I've had my air filters on about 2 years and haven't cleaned the first one yet or seen any instructions on how to do it. I need the foam filter oil and advice on how to clean the filters. Also, I need to change the oil in my rear end. Well, I mean the truck's rear end, not mine. I might want to talk about a dual remote bypass too. BTW, my beverage preference is Miller Genuine Draft.

Dennis, I like the way you worded that, "when I'm at home or at work". I respect you for being honest and not saying "when I'm at home or WORKING". You know, some of us actually have to DO WORK when we're AT WORK. :'(

Beer supplies:
Coors Light
Bud Light
MGD
Will that cover the mass quantities?
Someone better drink that light crap if when I bring it. I won't even bring it back home. I will carry the MGD home, that is my back up to the 5.9s.

OK, We all have the hyper-link for the campgrounds now. I can tell Chris that it is taken care off. I do need to check on the availability of Holly Bluff, a few yrs back they closed up before Thanksgiving.

Here is some info on the local area, humm I mean ZOO...
NC ZOO site (http://www.nczoo.org/), there are other things to see look at Site's around Asheboro (http://www.visitrandolph.org/attractions.asp). The covered bridge was pretty neat. I would like to check out the Goat Lady Dairy, anything pertaining to farming is educational.

Hey Dennis, American Classic Motorcycle Museum is near the campground. Right where Hwy 64 and Hwy 49 split. They have a few Harley's there. ;D

For the family member, there is shopping in Asheboro :), a few antique malls. Hot off the phone.

Holly Bluff is sort of open, if you are self contained. The bath house is closed for the season. $22 a night. That is a little high for off season.

Deep River Campground (http://www.kiz.com/deepriver/) check out the link. They are open year round, 6 miles east of Asheboro. $18 a night for full hook up (this is their yr round price). If we let them know ahead of time they can put us all together.

Kimrey, not to spook ya, Chris didn't say anything until last night about camping. I usually do the homework for places to go. I have been working cargo aircraft for 3 straight nights, plus full work days. So he knows that I don't have much time to search out his info and sleep before heading back out to work again.

The rates are better and the direction to Deep River are pretty easy. We prefer to use the Bath house then use the holding tank in the winter months. We haven't winterized the camper yet, so for using the sewer isn't an issue.

Let us know what you think.
