All you ever wanted to know about MMO.
As far as to if it contains alcohol, I think that is still a mystery.

Why the name Mystery Oil? Burt Pierce refused to divulge the formula for his new product and answered all inquiries as to its make-up with “It’s a Mystery!” The name caught on and is still recognized today for its “mysterious” ability to cure and prevent almost any engine ailment

Not that I'm aware of. MMO contains Stoddard solvent and light oil.
On the other hand, Sea Foam does contain alcohol.

You used to see 55 gallon drums of MMO at almost every airport in the 60s till the FFA banned it because they wouldn't list the ingredients.
If they have finally disclosed what's in it it would no longer be a mystery right?

MMO is great for preventing the valves from sticking on the Pratt & Whitney Wasp radial engines. Kept the bombers flying during WWII.

Here is a link to the MSDS for MMO. http://www.setonresourcecenter.com/msds/docs/wcd00043/wcd04377.htmWith Benzene, mineral spirits and napthenic hydrocarbons all listed at 0% it seems like the ingredients are still a mystery.

Back the 80's while working on Military Aircraft with Large Radial Engines (18 cyl-2800cu.in), Engine oil was also used for propeller control during flight. This necessitated having to remove & (desludge) the propeller domes every 600 hrs. They would be caked with black hard packed sludge appx an inch thick. During this time I happened to pick up a part time civilian job working on the same type of airplane. The old guy that owned it used 100 wt mineral oil as lube along with 25 percent MMO added in the oil tanks. I came to find out that he had never desludged the props in over 2000 hrs. I pulled them apart expecting the worst. They were perfectly clean & in fact looked brand new. No wear was present. I found it completely unbelieveable & have been a satisfied fan of MMO ever since. Also I'm hooked on the smell,,[laugh]
