In the market for...
an AFE Stage 2 w/Proguard 7 for my truck. I am currently running the K&N CAI, but have been reading bad things about it and want to get into the now...I don't need/can't afford for the stock turbo to go out before I get a good tranny and a few other things, and the K&N hasn't been giving me that warm and fuzzy with what a few people/reviews have to say. So, my questions is, where can I get the AFE for the best price?

I don't know if you need to PM me the info, but how loud is it turbo wise and how much did it cost ya? I would prefer the dry filter as well as I am just not too much for these oiled filters after some of the negative things I have been hearing about them. Thanks!

It really sounds awesome. Lots of turbo noise. Are you going to do a torque tube? The factory tube REALLY keeps the whistle to a minimum. I can't remember the exact price, but it was the cheapest I found.

All I care about is overall breathability, flow and filtration. All the added turbo whistle is just an added benefit that I would like to have. I mainly want that piece of mind that the oiled K&N that I have in there now isn't going to degrade my turbo, breath much better over stock, etc.

According to AFE, the blue flows the best, then the Pro Dry, then the PG7. Now s far as filtration, the PG7 filters the best, then the Pro Dry, then the blue. AFE told me unless your off road constantly, dust etc... then the PG7 was the way to go. With mixed driving, then they recommended the Pro Dry. I had the PG7 on my 02 and it was great. Time will tell on this new dry filter. It looks very promising. Here is a pic of it with my homemade torque tube.
You can see how well it seals from the impression on the seal.
