How many RPM's should stock truck take.

Was in a parking lot, turning, don't know what happened it was fast, think the rear end broke loose from the rain or cluch slip.
Hit the gas to go and the RPM's went in the 3500 range maybe little more...

Truck sounds fine, no rear hop, like it has if you break loose, so I don't know.....

I was thinking that they defuel or limit the RPM's in the stock trucks.

Think it did anything? What to look for? Long term if it sounds fine now?

Thanks.....

Mine tachs out on the highway at 3100-3200rpms (I think). I'm sure it'd go higher with no load, like spinning out. You didn't hurt it.

They defuel at 3500 stock and i'm sure you didn't do any damage.

A buddy of mine pulls at the county fairs with his truck. All he has is a programmer in the truck and off the start he turns close to 4000 RPM. I think you will be just fine.

Good deal guys Thanks....

Not that I will do it again but it sounded like a real motor.......

It was tough....

People in the parking lot at work were asking me what I got for a motor in that thing... And what I did to it.....

I hit the go stick.... A little hard.

Yeah, you're ok. I've seen that before on stock springs. I don't try to do that.

If you tore something up, you'd know it.

i wonder what size valve springs they have in them if they can turn up to 3500RPM? aren't the valves floating around 3800RPM? i'm a 1st gen guy, so that's why i'm curious. when 1st gens get a 3200 governor spring, 60lbs valve springs are a good idea.

The 3rd gens come with a 60# spring equivalent as the stock rev limiter is set to 3200 rpms. No load they will spin up to 3500-3600 put its pushing the limit of the springs to do that.

At 3500 rpms and/or 50 lbs of boost the valves and piston are starting to have a meeting, not a good one either. Been more than a few engines pulled down to find little eye brows in the pistons.
