Question Man, I need help....

Ive got a 2006 ram, AFE intake, MBRP exhuast, and a Quad Xzillarador box with the commander.

Im tired of seeing 1500-1600 getting up on the highway, and staying there set on level 2 only. I was going to get the Smarty as I just got 285/75/17 Dura grapplers that I am very happy with but of course my speedo is off and was going to use it to recal it. I was also hoping to get the EGTs (commanders EGT probe PRE turbo) down a good bit with this but I am so behind on this site Ive lost touch with all the terminology, abreviations etc etc... and I really doing know what you all are talking about. I just want to make the best choice possible... My ulitmate goal for this truck is a great daily driver with good milage, and able to pull 10K reliably at 70MPH up grades etc etc... Im not looking for a track monster at all... Ive got my dakota for that (turbocharged 408ci with TKO600 5spd, FAST XFI engine controller). I know Im gonna need a turbo for that, but is that smarty the best thing going to get there and am I gonna gave to stack it with anything else cuase I get really confused when you all start talking about that stuff!!!

Thanks a bunch, I need to order quick, driving from MD to WI this friday!!

Smarty Jr, maybe a cooling mist kit for the EGT's when towing. I have a snow, and I'm happy with their product and really happy with their customer service. Lary can get you one of those if you want it instead...

Both are in the DTR store.

You don't have any other mods than what is listed above? Better get ready for some tranny work if you're pulling heavy with power adders.

I towed with my truck recently, about 17-18k GVW, and on level one, I was passing guys going up a mountain with my EGT's staying under 1200. Our trucks are night and day, tho.

Have you considered upgrading your turbo? I think (could be wrong) that HTT will upgrade your stocker for fairly cheap. Don't quote me on that, it's been a while.

The 10K is for later on down the road... Only pulling 3K 90% of the time, and then 6K the other 10% when I take my dakota to the track, which is rare. BUT, the wife has plans on getting a toy hauler later on down the road after we have our first kid, starting to try later this year, so Id like to plan around that and the MPG when empty.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!!!!

And whats a good traction bar/link setup for the rear too?? I had some horrible axle wrap/wheel hop in 4WD in the snow, epecially when the wife was pulling me out when I got stuck in my work van.

Any power adder will shorten a stock tranny's life. That's just FYI...

MPG is hit or miss, some trucks do well, while others do not. There are a lot of factors to getting better MPG's, cheap ones from keeping a clean/waxed truck and good tire air pressure, to expensive, injectors and gear vendor kits (overdrive units.) You should see a 1-3 MPG gain, anywhere up to 5 (not very likely, but possible) with the Jr.

An MP8 is an adjustable rail pressure tuner. It has a **** that you mount in your truck, you can increase the RP just by turning that ****. It will also help with MPG's.

LazarSmith makes some awesome traction bars, but they are $$. I do not know if Glacier Diesel still sells any, they had some good ones, too. Caltrac's (sp?) are a lot cheaper, but not as big, probably more for a racing app.

What else?

Smarty does not adjust rail pressure correct? Is that a big deal then should I get something else other than the quad cause I get some nasty bucking sometimes at startup that I really dont like....

How does timing and rail pressure affect things?

The smarty revo does adjust RP.

I don't have enough time to explain the other stuff at the moment... I'll get back to you.

If you go in the third gen high performance section and just start reading stuff, you'll learn a lot.

There are a couple of threads on how to download and upload if you need them... just ask. Good purchase!

Actually, the S06 should come with the revo software in it. It is probably not the most current version, tho.

You did not mention any tranny mods, that thing will smoke a stock tranny in a second. Keep an eye on your gauges, make sure you are good, the Smarty is a great box, but has the potential to tear up a stock-ish truck.
