Question Who Makes Gears For My Truck?

Whilst I love my 3.19s right now, when I go to my new tires, I will be down to a 2.79. Now it is possible that 1st gear will become enough of a gear that I can always start out in it. However, I do not think this is possible for it just does not get you up to enough speed in anything other than stop and go traffic and starting in 2nd is going to require a lot of clutch slipping and probably a lot of jerking around. Because of this, I want to get my gears back to 3.19s (where I can cruise 75 @ 2000 RPM). Who make really nice, tough gears?

Well, your only options are 4.10s and 4.56s. I'm not sure who makes them, but if you call Differential Systems is San Diego, CA (619) 298-3568 they can help you out. They did an '04.5 for Off-Road Magazine and Greg Boardman before he died. Let me know what they tell you, 'cause I'll be in the market myself before too long.

I'm really stuck because a 4.10 makes it a 3.07:1 and a 4.56 makes it a 3.41:1 and I want to be in the MIDDLE!

That's what I am running now! WIth your auto though, I guess the 3.19s wouldn't be too good to it.

With the 6-speed and all the power you're making I'm sure the 4.10's would suffice. For us mere mortals I'd push the 4.56s

Ooooh Boostjunkie, you kill me.

I will check into the gears thing tomorrow. I have heard very good things about randy's ring & pinnion. I will also check out that other site.

First thing is I am going to drive the truck with the 2.79s and see what that is like. I am hoping that it will be tall enough that 1st becomes a real gear!

140MPH here I come!

According to aam.com, you can get a 3.54 for an 11.5 rear, and that is the highest ratio. Look here:
